James and his team completed a deck for our house. He was very good in understanding what we wanted. There was one section of the deck we quite could not decide what we wanted but James was patient and accommodating. Punctual too. We are very happy with their work. We would highly recommend James and his team.

I hired James Heggie to build decking in my backyard. I was not happy with the work done and I have raised issues with him. He said that's the standard. I have taken opinion from other licenced carpenter and they also identified other issue listed below:
a) No waler for supporting the deck
b) Support adjacent to wall is just hanging in the air
c) Decking beam linking to the wall beam is just on the screws instead of properly fixing with brackets
d) Merbau decking is secured by bullet nails instead of stainless steel screws
e) Uneven spacing between merbau deck panels

Approximate cost: $6000

James provides a really wonderful service. He is the usual tradesman (a little gruff) but gets the job done on time.

We had him organise our landscaping and will soon get him to change around the turf too with a more hardy variety.
