European food. That is at the same time contemporary, rustic and homely. I love the atmosphere of this place. From the exposed brick, yellow door with imposing brass knocker, stone walls etc.
If you eat beef tartare, you have to order it here. It is served in the traditional French style with crispy potato waffles. I could go on and on about every dish on the menu, because everything was so great. But I will refrain. Just go and see for yourself. Definitely worth the $$ spent.

I absolutely love this restaurant! The best wine, dinner and desert. We left and instantly booked in for our next feast. The food is delicious and the staff knowledgeable and helpful. Value for money and we will be back again and again!

We looked at the Hell of the North as a venue for a birthday party. In sampling it, we loved the room but as soon as we mentioned it was an 18th birthday, the waiter lost interest !

The menu was essentially one page of food and 20 pages of drinks which should give an indication of how the type of venue it is. The location is just off Smith street and is a discrete entrance - so a place to go after hours when looking for something a bit different.

The food was a bit eclectic for our group's tastes but I very much enjoyed the buck wheat and beetroot Faro salad. Worth a try !

Approximate cost: $25

We stumbled across this place on Saturday evening while looking for a place that could provide a decent cocktail and we definitely got that here. Attentive, knowledgeable staff that provide friendly prompt table service and a great atmosphere combined makes you feel like you have managed to sneek into somewhere exclusive but there's not a hint of arrogance.

We loved the big yellow front door and the fact you feel like you are entering someones house and not a bar at all. Highly recommend coming here for a drink, food also looked good from what we saw.
