On the night of 12th of April 2012 I was returning from my holidays and decided to stop in Townsville for the night. I booked into the Hi Roller Motel at around 1715 took my 6 year old daughter to the room opened the door and let her in to use the toilet. The car being parked rite outside the door I cleaned some rubbish out of it while my girl went to the toilet. She came out when she had finished I closed the door and we left. I too my daughter for a swim down at the strand followed by taking her out to dinner at the cowboys leagues club. We returned to the motel and grabed a few things out of the car for the morning. We entered the room and went straight to bed after brushing our teeth ect. I woke at 6 for an early start and found ants all thru my toletries and clothes. I spent an hour cleaning my stuff before getting my daughter uo to have a shower and leave. After getting ready I took the key back to the office and talked to the owners wife about the ants. She only replied with go see my husband. On the way I noticed the pest guy spraying around the property. Obviously they are aware of a problem. I approached the owner and mentioned the ants to him and he O WELL. I was taken back and asked what he is going to do about it and he asked what I want done about it. I said a partial refund for my wasted time as I am now leaving an hour later then I had planned. He replied I'll give you a full refund and threw his arms in the air. Then I showed him the room and he stated he cannot see any ants. I replied here they are he said is that it and walked out. On the bench there would have been close to 100 mid sized ants left. The other few hundred I washed doen the sink while cleaning my things. saying that there would have been a good hundred dead ones on the face washer I used to clean my things. I followed the owner out and asked if he is still going to give me the refund he said no and started abusing me with his wife. The wife accused me in a raised voice of not being able to pay and people like me should not stay there. I paid for the room the night before so obviously I could afford it. Then she kept yelling at me your in Queensland now you should expect ants everywhere has ants. Funny how I was next to my car with Queensland plates and I have lived in Queensalne for 34 of my 35 years. I replied well I dont have a problem at my home in Rocky nor did I when I lived in Brisbane Townsville Cloncurry or Cairns. I also pointed out they 1 week prior I stayed at the Monte Carlo 100m accross the road and had no isssue. The owners then told me not to come back and stay over the road next time. I know i'll never be back I'd rather sleep in my car. I never raised my voice once and yet both of them yelled at me in front of my 6 year old and other customers. Moral of the story is if you stay here expect the worst and forget any customer service. If my daughter was not present I would have stood my ground and made sure I recieved a refund but I needed to be the mature one at the time. No child needed to see the performance the owners put on and I was not going to submit my daughter to it anymore than what she had already seen. I have lodged a complaint with fair trading and the owners have told them that I must have left stuff out that attracted the ants. Well if you cant take your toiletries into a motel room what can you take. Anyway DONT STAY HERE
