A few friends have told me to steer clear of Penrith's Hogs Breath for reasons regarding hygiene - I can't confirm or deny whether or not they're true, but if their food and service is anything to go by I wouldn't be surprised.

The waitstaff are friendly enough and seat you right away, although they can sometimes take quite a while to come and take your order. In case you were wondering, this is so you are very, -very- careful about what meal you choose to order, because this restaurant does not guarantee quality.

My friend ordered the steak with garlic sauce and could not even finish half of it, despite it being his long-time favourite Hog's Breath meal. The steak was hard and chewy, to the point where he couldn't tell if it tasted overcooked or undercooked. My chicken parmigana (my long-time favourite) was lukewarm and not as satisfying as at other places I have been to. I should have just ordered a salad.

My advice is this: if Hog's Breath is your thing and Penrith is your area, drive 5-10 minutes down the Great Western Highway to the Hog's Breath at St Marys. There you will find excellent food and service. But Penrith just does not cut it.

One time when there was a problem it was quickly sorted and Hogs Breath sent us a voucher. Try their Hoggies Rocky Road Sundae to share OH My Goodness it is HUGE!
