Went here for a lunch on the weekend. The hotel was well laid out and had a very good selection of meals. The staff were very friendly. I'm hoping to return next time I'm in the area.
I went here for a late lunch on a weekend recently with my daughter and some friends, with there kids. I ordered a vegetarian salad with pistachio nuts and my husband ordered a fish and chips dish, which turned out to be a whole entire large fish when it was served! He thought the fish was really tasty and it seemed to be lightly battered, and I absolutely loved my salad which was also of a reasonable sized serving. The wine list had a good amount of variety and the staff recommended a chardonnay which was quite nice. The best things about this place was that they were very family friendly and had a lady doing free face painting for the kids, and the atmosphere was great and we could sit out on a back deck area which actually goes out over the water so the water is beneath you, so it was defiantly a waterfront view!
I agree about the meals, they are huge !!
Nice location beside the harbour, and parking is relatively easy nearby. Not great if you have a pram because of the long benches outside and congestion inside. The food was reasonably good quality, and the staff are friendly but rigidly adhere to the rules. The decor is pretty nice, but some of the live bands are pretty ordinary, which is a bummer when you are there to watch sport and have to hear someone mauling recent releases.
Very professional hotel. Lovely stype, Service was great. dinner took 30 mins to come out. had the steak and chips special meal. Not bad for $12. Still might go back. I lived in newcastle and tried many hotels. still want to try fish meal from here. They say it goods.
Approximate cost: $12
Have visited Honeysuckle Hotel on a number of occasions. Each time I've had a lovely meal and staff have been very friendly. Great location overlooking the harbour with seating outside available. Parking is quite easy as there is a large car park near by within walking distance. Great hotel!
We went here for dinner on a monday night and it wasn't too busy which was good as you can't book a table as there isnt a seperate eating area. They have some good dinner specials on Monday - Thursday nights. Our food was tasty and hot and was delivered pretty quick. We sat outside which is awesome, right on the water so could watch the boats and helicopters go back and forth.
Will definately head back for dinner again, but just not on a weekend as it gets very busy and noisy.
It is a great spot to sit by the water for Sunday afternoon drinks. Children are welcome during the day. Getting a drink doesn't take long. Always plenty of friendly staff available. There is a good variety of cocktails that are a little expensive but are nice. We also had the antipasto. Again, a little expensive for what you got but we enjoyed it.
The food here is what you would expect for the price and it just being a pub with a view of the harbour. Orders can take a while so do not go for food here if you are in a hurry.
Approximate cost: $18
This place isn't great v for m or anything but it is the best spot to sit by the water and watch the ships, boats and seaplanes go past. There is plenty of space. The queue for the bar never gets that big because there are plenty of staff. The drinks are always cold and there is a TAB spot. However, remember your ID. Even if you're blatantly over - they always ask.
always enjoyed the meals when ive eaten here. like the atmosphere. ok service..... as expected really. dont really like the sports plasma/games section.... would be nice to have it elsewhere - kind of ruins the atmosphere
Approximate cost: $20+
