Expected a bistro level experience, got a restaurant quality night.
Hoohaa impressed me.
Service was friendly and attentive, and the food interesting and delicious. It was international and modern in style, with dishes such as pumpkin gnocchi and pork belly with potato galette.
Presentation was not forgotten either, and every dish carried an artistic flair.

After seeing the other reviews on WOMOW, we booked the Hoo Haa Bar as the venue for our WOMOW Community Party - we weren't disappointed! The stairway on Chapel St is hidden and deceptive because once you get up there, it opens up into a little oasis that suprises and delights. Its a moody, modern bar with amazing decor and excellent service. We hired out the lounge area at the front but there's also a restaurant at the back and funky booth areas for more casual dining/drinking. Lots of our guests commented on how good the food was - woodfired pizzas and rustic italian finger food. I'm glad I've discovered this gem on Chapel St and I'll definitely be back sometime soon.

Went to Hoo Haa Bar for some work drinks and nibbles.
Had some of the best pizza I have had, the pumpkin and cream cheese was amazing!
Staff we're very friendly and drinks we're reasonably priced.
A nice hidden location above Chapel St, this makes a lovely lounge bar to kick back with friends and have a great night.
Will diffidently come back again!

Great Chapel St bar... I had expected just to go for drinks and ended up eating dinner there because the entrees were fantastic. I am definitely going to go back for the food.

Approximate cost: $28

Hoo Haa's signature baby blue and brown wallpaper, funky light fixtures, bird-caged flowers and grass wall in the beer garden gives the venue its unique personality. My favorite night is 'Tuesday's pasta'--where you can get a massive valued pasta + wine for only $12! Not to mention Wednesday nights where you can 'try' to finish this gynormous superparma for only $15! The music selection is my type of tunes too--a combination of chilled tunes with an amalgamation of global influences. During 'happy hours' on Friday, the DJ plays my kind of music--old school hip hop, which I love to boogie to. I have been here for a number of birthday parties and special occasions and think it's perfect for those who want to have a great dinner, good drinks and your very own dance floor (see? you don't really have to go anywhere!). Oh.. and my favorite drink: Shrewd number. Awesome.

Approximate cost: $18

I went here on the weekend for a friend's birthday. The music was pretty funky with a good mix. It was disco night but it wasn't corny disco music, rather more modern stuff. I thought that the drinks were reasonably priced for Melbourne (eg: $4.50 for a pot of Heiniken, $5 pot Becks). The set up was pretty good with bar stools, couches, tables etc. You can also eat there and the food smelled delicious but I didn't have any. They have an outside beer garden/court yard with its own couches and bar which was good for the smokers but not those of us needing fresh air. They had a pretty spacious idea of packed house which has it's bad and good points (ie: we struggled to get some friends in cause they said it was full but there seemed to be heaps of room).
