We got a new stone benchtop put in our kitchen a couple years ago. The quality is not great. There are a few chips and we have been quite careful. Also, it stains easily - coffee marks are quite hard to remove in this white coloured benchtop. House of Kitchen did not warn us of this at the time of purchase. The overall service was poor: we had to constantly chase them up to see where things were at, they would not come back to us. Their email communication was single line type of replies. Invoices were not clear and messy (they put in the wrong address). I would not recommend this business.

Sounds like this business has not improved since my kitchen was done in 2003! I experienced many of the same issues as "Anonymous". After signing the contract was told it was not possible to leave a couple of days between the old kitchen being taken out and the new one installed so that I could paint the walls. Result: having to paint around the new cupboards. They forgot to put the laying of tiles into the works, then the rude project manager stated that I 'had not specified" that new tiles would be laid. BS!! This was clearly stated in the scope of works, plus WHY would I have had the old tiles removed if new ones weren't being laid? Was I going to have bare concrete in the kitchen?!! They forgot to install the charcoal filter in the rangehood and left a pile of rubbish on the loungeroom floor. Had to call the managing director to come and collect all the crap. He arrived with a bottle of champagne to say 'sorry' all oozing charm. YUK. End result: not having had tiles put down before cupboards installed = kickboards having to be planed because they would not fit to the level of the tiles. What really pissed me off was discovering that the neighbours who recommended this shoddy outfit received a $500 gift voucher for doing so! I was offered the same but would never do that to someone!! BEWARE OF THIS OUTFIT. And if someone recommends a business, do find out if there was an incentive for doing so.

I Am Alan from House of Kitchens in Roseville and this comment is not about our company, there was a House of Kitchens in Newcastle and is still one in Qld. This may be about them. We never offer vouchers and we always remove our rubbish, our trades are the most experienced in the industry

Old kitchen removed and rebuilt new kitchen including appliances. They provided project manager and all trades. Trades were completed in the wrong order, which resulted in work having to be undone and re-done. Specific details of the job were not conveyed to the tradespeople so they turned up with an incorrect job sheet and didn't know what needed done. The house key was also left unsecured which wasn't comforting nor professional. When problems were located with workmanship, the company tried to place blame elsewhere. Specific details of the job were forgotten, which of course to include, cost more than the original quote. Many finishing items were ignored with the hope that we would not notice them, and when raised were met with a too hard attitude. The cleaning on completion was not done. Happy with the final result, but don't know why a project manager was supplied when we ended up doing most of the chasing up.

Approximate cost: $15000
