A small cosy restaurant that makes you feel like you were in Japan. Loved the interior and decor, seats altogether fit around 20-25 people so it was a little cramped. They don't take reservations, however the wait wasn't too long (around 15-20 minutes). The staff were extremely nice and quite attentive. All dishes were well-presented and fresh
Ichi Ichi Ku is located in a quite street in front of Botanical gardens just a few tram stops from Melbourne CBD. The restaurants is small but charming. It's decorated with wood, unique colourful lanterns, dim lighting, Japanese art, open bar, open kitchen resembling modern and hip version of Japanese Izakaya restaurants.
It is particularly good for take out if you're thinking about a picnic at the botanical gardens! The bento boxes are perfect for the occasion - comes with soup, sashimi, rice, veggies, and "dish of the day" (housemade crab cakes for me), and a mochi dessert.
