By far, this is the best sushi place I have been to in Canberra. It has hit all the right notes for my partner and me. The meals are huge, the food taste not only yummy and fresh, but they look very professional. I ordered an ATM meal - you can probably share the meal with a friend/partner. I ordered one meal each with my partner last time, and felt really bad leaving 1/4 of the food behind. By the way, green tea is free, for those who fancy freebies.

The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is nice. Although I wouldn't mind lighter lights.

Be warned - they are always booked out on Friday nights. Make sure you make a booking in advance or you could very disappointed. So many times did I see people being turned away by the staff even at 5.30pm.

Approximate cost: $45

If you want real Japanese in Canberra, go to Iori. It has amazingly fresh sashimi and a quaint Japanese interior with a mix of counter, floor and table seating. I find their set meals with the teriyaki main a bit disappointing because the entree is great and then the main is distinctly average, but you could avoid that problem by just heading straight for the sushi and sashimi.

Approximate cost: $30

One of the best Japanese restaurants in Canberra (albeit one of the only ones). That should by no means be taken as a criticism, the food at Iori is some of the best you'll get in Canberra. While the prices are a bit on the steep-side and the interior is a bit small, it only means you'll be sharing the place with less people that can ruin your dining experience. Recommend anything with crab, especially the spider rolls and the Crab Club set platter, and wash it down with a Tsunami, you won't regret it.

Approximate cost: $35-40

The Japanese food at Iori is undoubtedly the best on offer in Canberra. With a wide range of selections ranging from sashimi to a more basic tonkatsu, Iori offers a great selection for the more and less adventurous diner.

Pricing at Iori is quite steep however, and often I have ended up feeling unsatisfied and hungry after spending $50.

That being said, Iori is a great treat for those who want to splurge a little to get some fantastic food. The service is great and all the staff are friendly and know their menus well. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion.

Iori serves really delicious japanese food! They are one of the best Japanese restaurant in Canberra though the prices are on the high side. The sashimi is exceptionally fresh and the mains have reasonable portions. Note that, dinner is more expensive than lunch. The average cost is 20 for lunch but 40 for dinner.

A small, cosy Japanese Restaurant with excellent quality food and very attentive service. Not at the cheap end of things and the portions aren't huge (that's partly just Japanese, I guess!), but the quality is worth it. There's a 'regular' printed menu... plus a selection of dishes drawn on large sheets of paper on the walls!

Approximate cost: $18
