Best REAL Japanese in the area. It's not a "Japanese Restaurant" which has Chinese/Korean/Vietnamese/Indian etc cooks. Ask for the specials menu and if any trouble understanding ask them to explain.

Been here many times and the produce is of excellent quality. Very fresh! Octopus is my favourite. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend.

Beautiful Japanese food. Make sure you book for special occasions as it can be busy. In general it's really good food. Good value for money too. Handrolls are super fresh

Wonderful restaurant. This is Japanese as it should be, just like you'd eat in Japan. It is fresh and reasonable price. I would recommend the Miso Eggplant dish, it is exceptional. Also the sushi is delicious, it is all freshly made by the sushi chef right in front of dining area. Do yourself a favour and visit this place.

Approximate cost: $15

Good authentic Japanese food. Fresh sashimi that melts in your mouth. We have eaten here several times and never disappointed. Busy little restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Also good for takeaway.

Authentic, clean, fresh and simple - exactly what Japanese food should be!

There are a number of different entrees to work through including the ever-present gyoza which I find are always a good indication on what you're in for. The gyoza at Jirochyo are of excellent quality, the outer shell is fine and silky (without the rubbery consistency one usually expects) and the contents of the gyoza are equally as delicate.

Mains are well priced, with a large range of dishes to choose from, I can't pass up the grilled eel on a bed of rice, the eel has such a rich buttery/oily flavour without actually being greasy.

Although the sushi is of very good quality I always opt for the "Chirasu special"; a bowl of sushi rice topped with slithers of sashimi, cold grilled eel, prawns, salmon roe and tamagoyaki (sweet egg omelet), this never fails to impress!

The husband and wife team make for a great combination, one manning the sushi bar, the other managing the floor. It's that good I know of people who will happily travel 2 hours just to eat here.

these guys are great, and there is so much value for money. It books out pretty quickly some nights, so you do have to get in quickly, but most of the time you can just drop in.

Approximate cost: $12
