Great authentic Korean food, but not the best variety. The bibimbap was fairly priced ($14) with a decent portion, and the tteokbokki was great, but could have been spicier!
Kimchi Tray is fairly unassuming - easy to walk past among a dozen similar looking frontages. Per other reviewers, I just happened to be hungry when I walked past this place and thought I'd give it a go.
There were only a handful of people inside but that was not a deterrent. People came and went - its really a fast turnover type of place.
The owner (John Hwang) went out of his way to show me the right way to eat Korean and be helpful. He pointed out they were MSG free - wonder if they weren't busy and happy for any custom ?
I found the meals tasty - had the Beef Bibimbak (?) and tried the various side dishes that came with it.
Korean food is the greatest ! There are lots of these springing up in the city and just about all of them that I have tried have been great. The service is patchy in that the English of the staff is at times weak but its friendly enough and generally the get the dishes right. Price-wise its excellent and the food always seems fresh and tasty.
Thumbs up from me !
Approximate cost: $12
msg free is always a plus! that's nice how the owner helped and introduced you to korean food
Nothing special here, ok the one time I grabbed lunch here (bimbimbap) but not filling enough. Not the friendliest place for service. Just ok there is better out there for Korean. Just ok.
I live in the Building and for the whole 1.5 year living in the same building and walked past this restaurant for hundreds of times it never crossed my mind to try this place. Mainly because it doesn't look appetising and also this place is never busy.
Last night I worked over time and when I got home found out my younger brother had finished all the chicken wings I cooked the day before. I was exhausted and so drained that I had no choice but to finally eat at Kimchi Tray for the first time. I just didn't have any energy left in me to even walk one block to the Mcdonalds. The Bibimbap I had was quite disappointing. The rice was not crusty enough, there were hardly any meat in there and most of all the Kochujang sauce was tasteless.
For lunch, if you want to have something asian and spicy,
you should go here.
Here is korean restaurant and they have many menu for lunch.
You can have boolgogi and bibimbob as well.
Approximate cost: $10
