I love going to KoKo's. The staff is always very attentive and the food is great, especially the sashimi, the selection is different from your typical Japanese restaurant.

Love going to Kokos for the teppanyaki banquet. All the times we have been to the restaurant the atmosphere has been fantastic and the service is wonderful. The wagyu beef melts in your mouth and is highly recommended. The food is exceptionally fresh and tastes great.

The tables are a bit close together. Our waitress forgot about us for a while after serving our entrees, even though the tables to either side of us were getting the full attention. To be fair she did apologise and gave us a discount on our bill.
The food was good, although it can be had at less formal and pricey Japanese restaurants.

Top quality food but over priced.
The sashimi platter was truely amazingly fresh. With the tuna belly absolutely melt in your mouth, you can't ask for more. But the price for that is $230 for less than 25 pieces, I guess one taste is enough. Don't get me wrong, the atmosphere, is very exclusive, and the waiting staff are all very professionally tailor to your need. And KoKo will suit any business deal or a good chat over the table. As it is very peaceful and not as noisy as Nobu.
A few recommendations are Fish Head, Fresh Sashimi, Rice IceCream.

Despite the deluge of Japanese restaurants in Melbourne, Koko still manages to pull a few suprises with great traditional Japanese food and a few fusion dishes. Food quality is consistently high with fresh and tasty offerings. The best value is probably found during lunch time with their a la carte style fixed priced menu with an entree, main and dessert for around $35 per head. Try the salmon skin and spicy tuna sushi rolls (spicy tuna not mentioned on menu). Tempura is light and not oily, scallops still in their shells with the right hint flavour from a miso cream. If they have the rice with crumbed chicken fillet available (chicken katsudon) it is recommended as the serve is very generous in size. Also recommended is the unagi (eel) with rice. Desserts run to Japanese ice cream and mochi.

A bonus is that if it's someone's birthday, they will prepare a birthday cake free of charge for the birthday boy or girl!

Service can be a bit slow or unattentive depending on where you are seated however once called they do work quickly.

Expensive Japanese restaurant with just average food but nice interior design and location. It relies on the prime location at Crown casino on Southbank rather than on quality Japanese food. Good if you are not too fussy about eating well or if you are not a Japanese food connoisseur. Good sake selection.
