While it was a pleasant evening and the food was quite good, it wasn't the great experience I was looking forward to. The portions were of good size but there was not much difference between the entrée size and main course size.

The pizza which one of my family members had was adequate but not as tasty as other's he'd had. The pasta I had was well cooked but there was not enough of the cream sauce to go around.

The bill was a little higher than I thought it should be.

The restaurant is quite large but this takes away from any atmosphere which might be created - just rows of white table and black chairs, like a reception hall.

The staff were quite friendly but there were not a lot of them.

So, it was an adequate dinner and a bonus that I didn't have to cook, but I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon.

Their advertising for their business is that it's a family owned Italian home grown type of thing, but yet I didn't see any of this "history" only a young girl in a rather shabby black and white "La Porchetta" T shirt.

The food was filling but ... the experience left me wanting something more.

Approximate cost: $Well over $100 for only mains and drinks, no desserts or coffee

This La Porchetta restaurant is much different to the last ones I've been to. It is the most child friendly restaurant I've been to. The kids play area is great!!! I normally worry about my toddler running off and disturbing the other customers but here I was very relaxed knowing my boy was in a secure play area where we could see him through the glass windows. The lasagna I ordered was nice and the service was good.

Approximate cost: $18

I found the huge plastic playground outside the glass wall was rather off putting. You expect that at "other" cheaper places, not here.

Time waited for first meal: Exceeded 90 minutes.

Soft drink order when we arrived and 45 minutes later still not provided. # sets of cutlery missing even after meals served. Other tables not cleared after 15 minutes after patrons left the venue. Staff seemed to be not organised. Waited 20 minutes for tomato sauce even after asking 2 different staff. Will not recommend La Porchetta in Altona. Cost: $130 (4 Adults + 2 Children) 1 main per person and 1 jug of Coke.

Approximate cost: $18-25 per main meal

Cheap with a capital C! I am always surprised at how little such a large amount of food costs. Not quite 5 star dining here but a great casual place to go on a small budget! They also have a playground for the kids which is handy.

Approximate cost: $10
