Safety hazard!

Alert all people who enjoy going to The Fish coop in Laurieton.

I love this place and love their food.
Six months ago we were having lunch at this careless place and a 95 year old man fell as there is no safety colour on the step leading onto the outdoor serving area. The man was severely injured as he fell on his face. We called for an ambulance and I alerted the staff in the restaurant.
Next day I called the manager and reported the critical incident. We spoke at length. He told me that they rented the venue and that he had alerted the owners plenty of times about this safety issue. He “promised” me that if nothing happened that day, he would go to Bunnings, but paint and paint it himself.

I have been there many times since then. Spoken to the staff at the counter about this serious issue as we have plenty of of elderly with vision problems in the area.

Why hasn’t anything happened yet?
Shame on you Laurieton fish coop!!

I recommend Laurieton Fishermen's Co-op because it sells the best fish and chips I have EVER had, with very friendly staff, and at a very reasonable price. To the whingers, I would ask what YOUR cooking is like, and what is the REAL quality of your local fish and chips. My wife and I simply can't fault the very friendly and efficient staff. The premises are spotless and the work done to lift it from its former owners' shabbiness is truly a credit to the present owners. To sit outside in absolute peace and look out on the tranquil river whilst eating a wonderfully tasty meal is just wonderful and a real privilege! Furthermore, the (I think) owner is an absolute gentleman. He even walks out to where people are eating and enquires as to whether or not they are enjoying their meal. What other business would have someone do that? My wife and I recently left Laurieton, but we miss greatly this establishment, one of the good things about Laurieton. In fact, we would go so far as to say it's one of the north coast's hidden treasures!!!

No I wouldn't recommend this co-op. Ordered $50 worth of fish, chips & potato scallops to have with family who are locals and the amount was embarrassing!!! $10 with of chips were about a normal $5 amount and whiting fillets omg small dried up pieces I would've been better off buying frozen fish from Woolies. It doesn't pay to be stingy you have done yourselves an absolute disservice.

This place is great for your choice of fresh & locally caught fish made your way. We stayed and sat outside looking out over the river, which really added to the experience. Our food was hot and delicious. My fish was battered, and it was a bit oily but not outrageously so. Could maybe have used a minute on a paper towel, but that would be my only complaint.  Lots of outdoor tables with a very casual atmosphere.

Approximate cost: $15
