Awful experience, and I would not recommend them. I specifically chose this company to do the conveyancing for a place I bought in Brisbane because of the great reviews and their focus on communications and customer service. My experience was not that.
1. There was a miscommunication over my settlement date and Lead Conveyancing dropped the ball on it. They then contacted me Friday evening, for a Monday settlement, asking if I was tracking a Monday settlement. I was not (I was tracking a later date), therefore I was not ready. However, nor were Lead Conveyancers as they still had paperwork and checks outstanding, including the rates adjustment which they didn't request until the following week. They tried to cover it up by saying they knew I wanted a later date so had already sought an extension and received an extension, without making me aware of the issue first. Most of this could have been avoided if they had double-checked the contract and settlement date when I asked two weeks prior because I had noticed a discrepancy in dates, rather than paying-off my questioning with "I'm sure it's fine".
2. I was constantly chasing information and status updates, and my calls emails were only responded to half the time. For example, there was an error on a form, which the paralegal needed to re-do and re-send it to me to sign. I chased at least 4 times in 3 weeks, before finally receiving it the day before settlement. I also requested an optional search, and I still haven't received it and I settled two days ago. I also repeatedly asked to be talked through the process, having not bought in a very long time, having a busy job and not being confident in the information I was receiving. I ended up seeking legal advice from elsewhere. I also spent more time chasing things with the paralegal, than I received useful information.
3. Lead Conveyancing don't engage with mortgage brokers, and despite asking me for my brokers details they failed to mention they don't speak with them. I therefore spent a lot of time passing messages between them, so my broker was aware of what Lead Conveyancing was telling the bank.
4. Finally, and most disappointingly, when I raised my complaints with the company rather than try and understand my concerns and work with me to address them, the company representative got defensive and argued with me, tried to gaslight me and basically told me that miscommunications happen, my place settled, job done. I was devasted by the response I got.
I was also charged full fees for this experience, which ruined the joy of buying a new home. I don't believe the company cares about its customers or feedback, which is why I wrote this review.
Had a great experience with Lead Conveyancing. Paula Miller guided us step-by-step through the entire process and was happy to accommodate my many questions.
