I had heard mixed reviews from friends, but mostly quite good. It's in a shocking location though: not the most convivial surroundings near a carwash (former petrol station), gym, sports centre and suburban homes. However, the restaurant itself looked enticing, so I've been dying to try it for a while.

This restaurant is owned by the people who have Melissa's in Templestowe.

My husband and I went for breakfast on Saturday morning, and we were really pleased. The place has a modern, feel-good look when you first walk through the door. You forget about the surrounding businesses and just feel happy to be in a cool, new place.

We chose to sit outside to take advantage of the nice weather. They have extended the outside dining area and covered it so it's a real option now.

The breakfast menu was nice and fresh. It featured a lot of poached eggs, but you could probably get them done another way if you asked. There was otherwise a good variety, and you could custom-design your breakfast with a wide choice of the usual breakfast side dishes.

The coffees were good. Not great, but good.

All together, my husband and I are looking forward to finding another weekend morning without kids' sports commitments so we can return for another relaxing, delicious breakfast at Limelight Cafe. We also want to check out the dinner menu and service some evening. I'll add to my review once we do.

Congrats, Limelight!

This cafe has great coffee and selection of cakes, staff are friendly and the place is always pretty clean from dining area to the restrooms. Serving size is generous and the food tastes great, have not been disappointed with their breakfast or normal menu yet, hopefully they maintain the standard.

I have driven past here a few times and thought to myself. Yet another restaurant in this exact spot. Every year there is a new restaurant that crops up here only to close down again. This place is hard to miss as it has a lime green signs and chairs in the front. The staff were very friendly and showed me to a table. There is plenty to choose from the menu and the prices were quite reasonable. I have heard that the service here is quite slow as it is a new place. There was a sign on the door advertising for serving staff was displayed on the front door. I only had to wait less than 10 minutes for my meals which, isn't too bad, considering that the place was packed when I got in. The food tasted fresh and it wasn't greasy. Great customer service and good food, I would return again for another meal.
