Eat once during our family trip to Victoria. I think the food is pretty good but probably not a wow. Service is pretty good and the owner is very nice. He had a good chat with my father in law which make it a bit more personal and pleasant. We will call back in if we are ever in Lorne. Price is reasonable.

Went here on the weekend for our anniversary dinner. The setting is gorgeous, pier, ocean, seagulls - quintessential coastal view definitely the draw card. Although couldn't see much at the low lying table we were seated on outside, as the rail/barrier was annoyingly just slightly above head height! So I kept popping my head up to check out the view. But the atmosphere was definitely beachy and casual. Old, wooden weatherboard restaurant, solid timber picnic tables and chairs (although inside was a bit more formal), big umbrellas enclosing the terrace, daily specials written up on a huge chalkboard that got carried around. It's the type of place you can tell has more or less had the same menu and been running things the same way for 20 years or more. (Including the same European owner who paced around, throwing around orders here and there, greeting customers (some with a smile, others gruffly - luck of the draw!) always with an eagle eye on things.) But it definitely works.

We were among all sorts of diners - from families ordering fish n chips for the kids, to a large table celebrating a 30-something's birthday to some high-brow oldies behind us drinking Veuve all night.

Service quick and orders spot on. And the food was excellent. We had oysters to start which were super fresh. A glass of sparkling was about $8.50, but it came in a small bottle so was really almost two glasses worth. Complementary bread rolls were served straight away, but perhaps slightly too crusty. Mains were the seafood platter for one and seafood marinara. Both looked and smelled amazing, really well-sized portions that illicited a 'wow' from both of us when served. They didn't scrimp on the seafood either, heaps to go around.

Yes, slightly on the pricier side but definitely won't break the bank and overall experience was great. If seafood isn't your thing you might feel slightly out of place here.
We'll definitely go back time and time again.

This was an average restaurant for me however, I am not a seafood eater so I ordered the gnocchi which had clearly just been cooked from the packet. My mum on the other hand had a seafood platter and said it was delicious. The restaurant has fantastic ocean views and the staff are friendly and prompt. The prices are very high but it's good for a night out. I would suggest only trying this restaurant if you love seafood.

Went here with my wife with a plan to have lunch given the great location and views. We were a bit early to eat so ordered coffee to wait out some time before we ate. The coffee was unbelievably bad, undrinkable. When I said something about it, the response was basically "if you dont like it, go somewhere else". We did so I cannot rate the food. I wont be going back.

Wow that sounds horrible. Lucky there are so many good eateries in the town to choose from though.

certainly a restaurant we always go back to every time we are in Lorne visiting family who live in the area, absolutely freshest seafood i have ever had! the seafood platter is very well priced and certainly very filling. the desserts are divine.
we took overseas visitors to this restaurant and they enjoyed it thoroughly (and they are fussy eaters!)

location is perfect on the pier, so you can go for walk after dinner

Beautiful Location. Nice fresh seafood made to order. Not a long waiting time for our seafood platter. The staff seem to be not bubbly nor wanting to be here. Considering the location and the food we ordered and the type of business we're at... we did expect a bowl with water to rinse our hands. After going back to the staff and asking to one it seemed to be a tall order.

The good: Fresh seafood and the view.
The bad: Customer service or the lack of.. and the price.

Every time we go to Lorne or down the Great Ocean Road, we stop to eat at the Lorne Pier Restaurant, the seafood is fresh, tasty and tender. The waiting staff have always been really friendly. The prices are fair and I have no hesitation in recommending it. Give it a go and be pleasantly surprised. BTW the also have delicious meals without seafood.

Approximate cost: $25
