Mary specialises in counselling for adults, adolescents, children and families.
 

Her areas of speciality include depression, anxiety, grief & loss, chronic illness, disability, spirituality, sexuality, same sex attraction, addiction and personal growth. Counselling sessions can assist with:

• Supporting adults to find a greater sense of meaning and direction
• Issues of depression, anxiety, relationship issues, sexuality, same sex attraction, addictions, illness, grief and loss.
• Working with children and adolescents to help them to have a better understanding of the issues bothering them
• Supporting patients dealing with chronic illness, disability, death and dying
   

Mary has 15 years of experience working in the community, hospitals and schools. She is a Young Australian of the Year Award (VIC) semi-finalist for Adolescent Grief program development.
 

Mary has a Bachelors Degree in Nursing, a Post-graduate Diploma in Counselling and a degree in Clinical Pastoral Education. She is also a registered member of the Australian Counselling Association.
 

Mary Matthews is registered as a professional counselling service taking referrals from both WIRE - Women's Information Referral Service and SWITCH BOARD support services.
 

Counselling sessions are held in her East Brunswick rooms and there is an option for long-distance counselling sessions over Skype.
