I visited Max's restaurant a few days ago for the first time. I went there in the morning with a friend of mine and we ordered from the breakfast menu. I was impressed with the décor and atmosphere of the place, it seemed quite classy and upmarket. There was a nice couch in the corner and some new pretty light fittings, and a deli area which was quite decorative looking with cheese and fruit arrangements on display. This restaurant is in the same place as another café previously was located, but Max's has much nicer décor than the café that was there previously. The staff were quick to take our orders and bring over water and re-top up our water for us. We both ordered the same thing, a vegetarian dish with beans, baby spinach, and haloumi cheese and lemon on toasted either Turkish or sourdough bread with some tasty balsamic sauce. The bread was really dense and crunchy and delicious and I loved the balsamic sauce and the haloumi, however I was a little disappointed with the kind of beans used, they were some kind of plain green round little beans, they looked a little bit like a lima bean, and the beans themselves were a little bland for my liking but the rest of the dish was nice. My cappuccino was well made, and was nice and hot. The prices for the breakfast items were quite reasonable, my dish was around $10. It is hard to classify the type of food that they serve here, it seems to have a bit of a European or Mediterranean feel to it. Overall I was quite happy with my food and service and would recommend it to friends.
