The staff were professional and were easy to talk to. They weren't too pushy as well and were patient with my questions.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of dealing with Richard from Metro Traders.I was in the market for a recent model luxury SUV and Metro Traders had several I was interested in looking at.Rather than the usual high pressure sales ,it was a more relaxed casual chatty encounter, about a mutual interest in classic cars( SL Mercedes Benz) rather than pressuring me to buy.I ended up purchasing a BMW X5 which was in fantastic condition with everything I wanted.Richard and Stuart organised a few tweaks I wanted done, fitting a tow bar, personalised rego etc and had the car looking fantastic when it was time to collect.I can honestly recommend Metro traders, and Richard in particular for any prestige car purchase. Thanks guys,Regards Peter

The dealer principal, Richard Owen, is a lovely guy and great to do business with. Recommended!
What do you think Metro Traders do really well?
Great customer service. Presentation of cars - the one we purchased was 10 years old but it looked virtually like a brand new car.

I recently had a very positive experience dealing with Metro Traders in South Melbourne.
It’s been almost a week since I brought my car form Metro Traders and I just wanted to say that is that it was best choice step in to Metro Traders. A big thanks to Stuart and the entire Metro Traders team for the help and making the whole process effortless. From the time I walked in for the test drive to driving the car home, there was no going around circles. Highly recommend anyone to step in to find the best cars.

The standard advice applies - If you're absolutely confident of the price and product - and don't take their word for it - then go ahead. I'm sure these guys are as nice as pie when you're paying the asking price but I discovered anything else earns you generous helpings of salesmanship best summed up as dismissive catchall statements, belittlement and if you persist, actual derision - all on a solid base of good old condescending "we've been doing this for 35 years so we know best".

Described in the ad as "a totally polished package... exceptionally well maintained... without a doubt one of the best looking we have seen as it has been kept in exceptional condition", turned out to be covered in stone chips except for the suspiciously fresh front bumper; faded plastics indicating outdoor storage, a barely working driver's door handle (I suspect now they attempted to cover it by leaving the door open for me), a leaking Tyre and repeated system-failure warning messages flashing on the dash.

The reaction I received from the salesman in a follow up conversation for pointing out these shortcomings on my expectations and offering what I considered an appropriate price reduction, produced the aforementioned sales techniques, along with an admission he'd driven the vehicle over 20 mks on the deflated Tyre I had earlier pointed out to him. He also identified a comparable age and mileage vehicle on the market, and when I pointed out that it was significantly cheaper and came with a three year warranty, he pointed out it was in Queensland. The follow-up email exchange earned me further derision, a veiled threat and worse a total lack of any justification of his position. So determined was this man to deny anything I was saying, that four days after my pointing out the vehicle didn't have running boards as advertised, the ad wasn't modified!

A conversation with the owner of the business confirmed that it is the company culture as he defended the salesman involved and accused me of lying about observing the warning messages. Remarkably having demonstrated his receptiveness to news of mechanical issues, in the same breath he pointed out that they would have to fix any mechanical failings under their generous statutory three-month warranty offering. Indeed.
