I just had my landscaping completed with MGP landscaping. Michael and the boys were fantastic throughout the process. Michael is extremely professional and reliable.

We have used MGP a few times and for the most part was happy with the workmanship, service and cost.
But my recent encounter was a different story. We were looking at blocks of land in Highton to build our next house, I asked Michael for advice and engaging his services about steep blocks in Highton and if he could work with them.
He said yeah sure .. I can prepare a block with 6m+ of slope for a volume builder.
He mentioned he had a block on the market that he would sell to ‘someone he knew’ for a good price .. anyway, it was too expensive and wasn’t the kind of block I was looking for.
He then went to recommend a real-estate agent, agent that had is block listed, which was fine.

Got the appraisal from the recommended agent and told him we are looking to sell pending finding our next block. He then mentioned Michaels blocks, I said thanks but we have already looked at this block and too expensive and too much slope.
The agent than mentioned he had a block off market (his block) if we were interested. It was the right price, size and minimal fall.
Had a look and it was what we were looking for. I asked the agent if he would mind if I spoke to Michael about his block and said not a problem, I don’t see a conflict of interest.
Spoke to Michael about the block, initially he seemed caring and looking out for our best interest and advised me that I would be making a mistake if I brought this block,
I said thanks but I have done my research and we are happy with our decision, I asked him to quote on the job to level out and retaining walls, Michael continued to mess us around and postponing getting back to us.

This is where it got interesting, Michael does some work for a business that my partners father works out, Michael made it is business to tell them we were buying a dud block and bad mouthed the same agent a that was selling his block.
This caused some doubt in the family with our decision making.

I was very annoyed and thought he must really care about our interest. But that’s ‘his’ opinion’ hence that’s why there is a real-estate market. But very unprofessional!

Than is became clear, Michael dropped the agent for selling his block as part of the reason was he didn’t push Michaels block on us.
After all of this I still put our differences aside, waited a few weeks for him to get back to me about a cut and fill, waiting weeks on end for reply, usually a week between messages till I felt I was just been ignored due to above so I thought enough is enough.
I told him if he didn’t want to do the job he should have just said so, don’t expect any recommendations from me. (hence this review)
He then replied that I was so pushy and rude and to find someone else to do the job.
By this stage I had no intension for him to do the job as he obviously couldn’t put his personal issues aside.

In short, want something done cheap and easy job MGP is fine. But not trustworthy and is looking out for himself. Use with caution.
Also keep in mind if you are spending tens of thousands of dollars, MGP’s work is not warranted as you’ll have to do as an owner builder which you as the ‘owner builder’ as responsible for the work.

They turned up when the said they would and completed the job ontime and within the budget. Easy people to deal with and a professional approach to the work. Would highly recommend.
