Great coffee and breakfast. I had poached eggs with mushrooms and bacon. Friendly staff and reasonably quick service.

A really nice local neighborhood cafe, that has a vegan/vegetarian leaning. The menu is wholesome, hearty and healthy - tooo uncommon. Servings are also quite generous, after taking into account the price point.
Ie. the baked beans dish offers an enormous mound of a few different types of beans which have been stewed till creamy, with a good flavour and texture from the added ingredients ie. tomatoes, herbs, red pepper etc, atop 2 large slices of sourdough (only $12). One of the things which I like about milkwood is the flexibility to make your own breakfast dish. They go far beyond the standard Eggs on Toast + Sides... in that you do not even have to order eggs at all, or toast for that matter. And the list of sides is fairly lengthy.

Run by two charming ladies Milkwood is a must try cafe. The menu is pretty comprehensive but I can thoroughly recommended the potato rosti or ricotta pancakes - yum! They are happy to accommodate your dietary needs (Nutlex instead of butter for example) without attitude - nice!

I drive by this cafe quite often and find its in awkward spot for me to get a car park! Its handy if you are on foot catching the tram as its located next to it.

The coffee isn't too bad here, better coffee can be found around the corner at New Day Rising though. The mushrooms here are probably some of the best mushrooms I've had, and the ricotta pancakes are super sweet to the point of not being able to come even close to finishing. The decor is cute and the homemade treats are great.

Coffee was average. The lemon grass and ginger tea was undrinkable. The service was poor to say the least. Girl at register stared blanky at me when i said i wanted to pay. Have no idea what was going on there. The only lady who had a clue as to what was going on was rude the entire time and never smiled.

Such unprofessional 'service' appears to be a regular occurrence at some establishments, which is totally unprofessional. One is left wondering how/why such places remain in business. Thanks for another candid review! Reeces

Service was very attentive. Menu has the basics as well as some nice variations such as beans, a 'winter slaw (coleslaw), mushroom and ricotta on toast. Very fresh ingredients, although the coffee was quite average. They also have a selection of homemade sweet treats. Fresh and wholesome food is what you get here

Approximate cost: $14

I couldn't believe it when I paid $5.50 for an iced chocolate and received the tiniest cup- (I'm surprised they could spare it. The shop smelt really bad and I thought the wooden spoons we were given were surely a safety Hazard.
