the salesman was nice enough until after installation (well and truely after the cooling off period) when we discovered that basically everything he'd said was a lie. The inverter was not what was discussed and shown as what we would have, the installer damaged our gutters and never fixed them, and the system would never be able to do what we were assured it would (ie: make enough units to keep our bills at $0).
When we complained to Modern Solar we were told that there was nothing they could do about it.
We have now worked out that for the amount we paid, it will take OVER 100 YEARS for us to be cost neutral (savings vs outlay). This is not an exaggeration, $9500 outlay, $15.00 savings per 2 months = 105 years.
I would highly recommend avoiding Modern Solar.

Their customer service doesnt exist They are the most inept company Ive ever had the misfortune to deal with In 18 months we have generated all of 18 watts, not even a kilowatt. Then they have the audacity to want to send one of their electricians and if he doesnt find a fault they want me to pay. When I asked for an independant they refused.

Completely agree. They had my review removed as suspect or inappropriate. The only thing in appropriate is that they are still allowed to trade.
Don't be surprised if your review is also removed.
Signed contract in early April and paid my 10% An installer visited the site a month later. Have not sighted them since. Letters are ignored. Phone calls are politely listened to ...but no action taken.
Modern Solar are currentle advertising on 2UE that they will have their panels installed within 3 weeks of signing the contract. As I have now waited nearly 8 weeks, it makes their one think about how truthfull this company is in regard to what they promise.
Very very poor communication between them and the customer. Under no circumstances would I recommend Modern Solar to anyone

hi, I had worse service and behaviour from modern. They changed the agreed price and even installed a 3 kw inverted for instead of a 4kw inverter after they charge $500.00 for the upgrade.
We got a 3 kilowatt system installed 12 months ago...
we have been experiencing trouble with the north facing inverter for the entire year and Modern solar keep giving us the run around... 25 year guarantee my butt!!
they never call back when we ring and they are very unprofessional!
i deeply regret using modern solar and i highly recommend you take your business elsewhere...
i thought going for the highest quote would be the best... i should have went with one of the cheaper quotes... Modern was twice as expensive as their competitors...
currently the north facing inverter doesnt even turn on... i am considering going to the media and also getting a lawyer and suing them!!!
i have enormous amounts of evidence collected over the last 12 months... they are going down!!!!
We are currently being thrown around by this company. We signed a contract, never heard from them until the day they sent out the installer. Found out then that the panels won't fit on our roof. We assumed our contract was void, as they can't offer the product we signed up for. Apparently not, they are hounding us, sending out the contractor out to try and fit it anywhere- suggestions being on the shed roof, even though it is full of holes, or across two sides of the house not just the north side. We are just hoping that they can't force us to pay for an install, because we signed the contract. This company is sooooo unprofessional and wish that we never had anything to do with them.

Hi Chelrose84, unfortunately, the interest of solar technology has brought with it many unscrupulous dealers who will essentially do anything it takes to get a sale. If the reviews on WOMO are anything to go by (and we believe they are) then this is clearly one business worth avoiding. A decent, high quality product will essentially ‘sell itself’ whereas a substandard one needs to be ‘talked up’ in order to convince the buyer to part with their hard earned money.
