My sister has been raving about this place for a long time but due to the expense have been putting it off.... it was however AMAZING. the food is so so yummy. Downside is the expense but the taste and quality were astounding. We did not make a booking and as it was not a weekend did not have an issue however would suggest booking mid week as I think we were quite lucky. Staff were nice but were a little bit unattentive at times but overall was really happy to find a great tasting modern mexican restaurant.

This place looks fabulous, BUT - it falls victim to one of those super trendy establishments that has lost the focus of what they are there to do. The food whilst described as mexican is everything but. Putting some cornchips on your menu does not make you a mexican joint.
We arrived at six but did not get menus till we asked around 7. Food arrived staggerdly between 7.35 and 8 and it was undersized and averagely tasting (too much garlic and onion to hide lack of flavour).
We brought a cake for a birthday but despite requests, didn't have it after 20 mins. Thus just asked to have it so we can leave as we had been there 3 hours so it came back to us in the same box - no effort.
Over priced, averazge food, crappy service - not worth the time or money.

Approximate cost: $38

Firstly, can I just mention that I was not a huge fan of Mexican until I dined here. What a modern Mexican affair!! The soft shell crab taco and the marrow taco is just amazing!!
But the highlight of my night was the meat, well worth the $70

Approximate cost: $30-60

The Newmarket Hotel restaurant was one of the leaders of the new trend for upmarket Mexican that has arrived in the Melbourne dining scene. It is located in the Newmarket Hotel as you'd expect. This pub used to be a complete dive and has been extensively renovated and now has the feel of a Morrocan palace, which is out of keeping with the style of cuisine, but somehow it works. The food is really interesting and full of flavor, with extensive use of fresh herbs and exotic ingredients. For those after more traditional pub fare, the male members of my family say that the very upmarket burger on the menu is the best they have ever had. The staff are very knowledgable and professional. The prices are moderate to high.
