I am just posting this to warn anyone who needs shutters, screen or security door NOT to deal with Newtech Shutters.

We found this company at a home show and left our number with them for a free measure and quote. The consultant they sent was very nice but extremely pushy, basically offering us a discounted price but only if we made the decision that minute. That probably should have warned us.

At that time, he had told us about a "peace of mind policy", meaning that if we found the same product with the same warranty- Newtech would match and beat it by $150.

The following week my parents obtained a quote for the same door at another company for a cheaper price. I called Newtech to enquire about the price match policy. I had to call back 5 times before I was able to speak with anyone, despite having left my name and number for a call back. I was finally put through to the General Manager who was aggressive to start with; he stated that a Sales Manager had called me the previous night and when I indicated that I had not had a missed call on my phone, he yelled at me that I dared call a Senior Manager a liar based on the preposterous notion that I did not have a missed call, and hung up on me.

My husband continued correspondence with Newtech to attempt to get resolution, through multiple emails and phone calls. All Newtech's correspondence was aggressive, rude and offensive, each email worse than the next- without actually addressing our query re: price guarantee. When we advised we were disappointed with their service, they had the audacity to state that they have conducted themselves "with the "Patience of a Saint" and your disappointment is purely because you can not get what you want which is simply a distorted and twisted interpretation".

We rang Consumer Affairs several times and were advised that there was no law against rudeness and bad Customer Service and nothing could be done.

I am completely appalled at Newtech's behavior and have never encountered this sort of rudeness before. Newtech was extremely quick to bank our deposit cheque but once that is done, don't seem to care at all about you as a customer.

This attitude seems to come from the top GM and senior sale people so it is no surprise that this is the culture of the company.

I have never posted something like this before but I am so angry with the way we have been treated and i felt compelled to warn others. Please avoid Newtech at all costs...it is not worth the headache
