There are 3 versions of this shop: Newtown Thai, Newtown Thai II, and this one, Newtown Thai II Express, which is opposite NHSPA and near Newtown train station. The original shop, Newtown Thai is the best in terms of the flavour of the food, but this one is good value for money too. I had a fried rice with chicken eat in, and you get really big servings, so for $6.50 at lunchtime, this is a bargain. The only thing that worried me was when I noted one of the chefs having a smoke outside, who then returning to the shop to cook without even washing his hands- this put me off a bit. The same man emptied a bag of bean sprouts in the display counter without washing them. This was a bit of a let down, I wish they would observe proper hygiene standards.

Always excellent thai food. Made to order for pick-up really fast. Highly recommend the chicken wings! $6.50 lunch specials are an absolute bargain. Friendly staff. Really convenient location (near Newtown Station).
