Nieuw Amsterdam is absolutely fantastic in every facet. Long opening hours, great bar food, probably the most extensive and interesting cocktail list in Melbourne. The food is great, but as it is bar food, probably best for an occasion where you feel like a nibble as opposed to a hearty dinner.

Had dinner here once and before i say anything else, YES i will definitely going back.
The food - I had the Southern style pork belly chops, it was delicious and tender.
The service - was super friendly and helpful!

The vibe here is old school sophistication.
The food is half retro, half modern. Something which you don't find much of in the general dining scene.
We had items like Savoury profiteroles filled with goats cheese & broccoli sauce, Chicken Waffles with lovely rich chicken liver pâté, Pork Trotter & Ham Hock Nuggets with onion jam, grilled courgettes stuffed with parmesan & pinenuts.
A fun slightly retro above average dining experience.
