2 reviews about Northern Beaches Pools

Wow- Northern Beaches Pools are back in business! How dodgy operations like NBP are allowed to re-invent themselves a couple of years later after leaving us completely in the lurch is beyond me. The job was a complete shambles- they completely stuffed up the construction of our pool. We were overcharged for “extras” and materials that were never used. Our skimmer boxes were below water line so useless in collecting leaves. Our very expensive automatic cover was ruined when left exposed for an extended period during the first round of remedial work. Communication was terrible, when there was any. Sub-contractors refused to come to site because the builder had not paid them. Delays and excuses reigned supreme. My wife was talked down to. Our early fears over mistakes were ignored (inevitably, of course they came to fruition). Last we heard, the principal had filed for bankruptcy leaving us with over $40,000 of remedial work still to be done on our pool. It took us over 4 years to deal with NBP then lawyers, consumer tribunal, bankruptcy, more lawyers, insurance company and finally another pool builder to get our pool in proper working order. Despite the home warranty insurance cover paying for most of the required remedial work, we were still ultimately out of pocket at least $15,000 and literally hundreds of hours of our time. Yet, here they are again, rising like a phoenix! Same website, same owner, same contact details and same unfulfilled promises of quality, honesty, integrity and communication. Please note that a one star rating is the lowest possible on this rating system. (I would have given zero.) This is one of those pool builders that give the whole pool building industry a bad name and the reason why your home warranty cover will be so expensive. The fact that they still have a builder’s license is a sad indictment on the licensing system here in NSW. Let this review be a warning to all who stumble across this company.

As an additional tip when building your pool: Read your contract carefully. Make sure YOU also have a GET OUT CLAUSE if the company fails to live up to its obligations. Our standard (Master Builders Association) contract only gave the builder a way out if you, the client, refuse to pay a progress payment.

Really huge warehouse in Burleigh, with lots to choose from. One section seems to be all bedding- mattresses & beds, the other is lounges, dining, outdoor, rugs etc- We had a nice shop assistant, Marguerite look after us. She showed us what was in stock that would suit what we wanted, then worked out a better price for cash/eftpos. Delivery within the vicinity is around $65. There's a little cafe out front also if you need to stop for a coffee.
