Don't waste your money! Compared to Icehouse, it's expensive, run down, cafe wasn't open, no helmets, boots had the reminants left of the lining, there were pot holes throughout the rink and it SMELT!!! This business is only good for bulldozing! The last reviews said it was run down and that was in 2010, well it's 2015 now and I can tell you that nothing's been touched! YUK!
We don't know how to skate, but we thought it would be great for the kids to take them out here. It turns out it was, they had a lot of fun despite the fact that the centre is old and the fact they didn't know how to skate because they were able to get a frame to help you sit on the ice. Don't forget to bring a jumper or a jacket as it's cold inside.
The rink is a little dated but the centre is great value for money and a great school holiday activity.
I couldn't believe the lack of Ice Skating Venues in Melbourne when first moving interstate. 'Olympic Ice Skating Centre' was pretty much it in terms of venues for my daughters to continue their skating. The centre itself has seen better days - but bit by bit fairly major and expensive changes are being made to give the rink a face-lift. What the rink lacks in physical appearance however is made up in our perfect coach. She is a wonderful, patient and talented 20-something woman - whom I can honestly report as the best skate coach I have ever dealt with. Formerly from Perth, - Melbourne were blessed to have her join the coaching staff at Olympic. I highly recommend coaching at the centre.
