We are a team of university-qualified social workers and counsellors with decades of combined experience in the areas of Child Protection, Disabilities, Youth Support, Grief and Loss, Advocacy and Family Systems. At OnFamily we work directly with individuals, families and the professionals who support them to provide evidence-based and practical advice. We recognise that many people are effected by increased stressors such as financial hardship, time restraints, isolation and separation.
We are committed to working with individuals and families to bring back a sense of togetherness for every individual, family and community. To minimise the impact on already strained time and financial restrictions, OnFamily offers online support in a variety of ways.
We recognise that discussing personal circumstances online may be daunting for some people, so your counsellor will arrange a free initial meet and greet with you through your preferred medium (email, chat or skype). This allows you to become familiar with your counsellor and ask any specific questions you may have regarding the service.
OnFamily’s online support has been specifically, but not exclusively, developed to support families and individuals who are time poor, have difficulty accessing main stream supports or are unable to locate appropriate supports to address the unique circumstances of your family. Online support through OnFamily works with families just like yours, who may be geographically isolated, Fly-In-Fly-Out workers, single parents, caring for multiple children, or any other situation which can make it difficult to access or prioritise professional support.
Scheduled Chat Appointment
During your initial chat, your counsellor will seek to clarify the specific issues you are experiencing, look at what is working and assist you to develop strategies or gain a deeper understanding of how to work through your specific concerns.
Personalised Email Support
Whether it be a new strategy for engaging with your child, advice on how to open a difficult topic of conversation or even ideas for relevant agencies or supports for yourself or your family, this service enables you to work directly with your own counsellor for a time period specified by you.
In this way you will have peace of mind that you can receive professional advice on a range of topics to reflect the day-to-day experiences of the family unit. Our support will be tailored to your individual needs and circumstances, and your counsellor can provide phone support if required to ensure you receive holistic and ongoing assistance when you need it most.
This service is highly useful for professionals wishing to support clients they work with and hoping to gain some objective advice on particular circumstances or issues. It is also a useful follow up tool for individuals and families who have previously accessed OnFamily services and are just needing to 'touch base' with us.
