As this place is close to work, I often buy their $8.90 buffet lunch. What a bargain. You get to load up your takeaway (or plate) with the likes of fried rice, sweet n sour fish/port, spring rolls, chicken n veg stir fry and then some. Its real value for money and it fills me up big time.

Approximate cost: $8.90

I introduced yum cha to my friend by taking her in here. As she never had yum cha before, I wanted her to experience fine dinning style, not a-fast-food kind. I ensure you this restaurant is the right place to go to then.

We were welcomed by a young waiter who walked towards doors to open for us. Once we entered, a old waiter pointed at a prepared table for two and asked if we were happy with it. We nodded our approval and got ourselves seated by the young waiter. He followed us to the table, pulled away a chair for me and placed fabric serviettes on our laps. At that time we assumed he was our waiter for the evening. He politely offered something to drink...I said I was happy with a glass of tap water, in comparison my friend ordered a glass of wine for herself. Then he asked me again what I wanted to drink (so I repeat myself). We were left to look into menu. When he came back few minutes later, he asked whether we were ready to order. "Sorry, not yet...could you give us a bit more time?" He walked out but came back within five minutes. We were still looking at the menu and discussed what dishes we would be sharing. It was obvious we still did not make final decisions. We had to ask for more time again (!) A few minutes later the old waiter came along and asked us the same question. Luckily, we were ready to order...five entrees to share. Once we placed the order, our too-lovely-young waiter came to question us what we wanted to order (!)
Finally we were left alone to have a girlie talk...until the older waiter showed up about five ten minutes later and asked about a number of entrees we had ordered. In my opinion, if he had written it down at first place and hadn't attempted to impress us with his memory, he'd done better. So he walked out and luckily no one else bothered us with ordering ever again.

I guess we should have noted to them to bring the dishes one by one or deliver some dishes later. They served everything at once. It was not a big deal though.

I personally loved steamed dumplings with fresh and soft seafood and calamari that were also very fresh. Satay chicken was also nice. All of the dishes we had were flawless, absolutely brilliant. I think we chose one of the little dishes considered healthy choices. Angel Cove Sauvignon Blanc went very well with all entrees we had.

When they took away the last dish, each of us was given a fortune cookie. Interestingly enough they did not ask us if we wanted any dessert or coffee. I found the fortune cookies like a hint to pay the bill. So I did. I paid to old waiter who stood behind the counter. I said it complimented their great food and thanked him for service. He commented it by words "yes, we are the best". [O-ou...I would love to have his confidence...no, their are not that great!!!] I believe he must have been a manager or owner having so much confidence. He was alright to deal with until he approached a subject that I can get very offended by. He did not forget to ask me a question that I am asked by fools on daily basis..."Do you play netball?" I so wanted to dunk his comment if he plays mini-golf but I held myself back. His English was pretty bad to have any conversation on that topic so my response was very simple. We both agreed the waitering staff was quite odd in some instances. They could have done better if they were not constantly in our faces and forgot some offensive comments. What is more the old waiter entered into my friend's personal zone with no need (!) I noticed it too and wondered what that was about (!)

I can see myself going back there sometime again to try different dishes...but would be a bit more conscious of waitering staff.

Approximate cost: $15-23
