I don't have a pet but I do generally enjoy visiting pet shops and looking at the animals. Recently went into the Petshed in Mittagong, it has probably been around for a while and may have seen better days. Overall, for a town of its size, it's not too bad. There is a range of animals on sale there – some dogs, hamsters, rats, mice, rabbits, also birds and fish.

The shop is a bit tired looking and doesn't smell particularly great, possibly some of the cages could do with a bit of a clean. When I went in there, there were a few small dogs in the window and a small jack russell alone in a big cage. The fish tanks along the wall were uninspiring and some of the birds looked like they had been caged up too long. That said, the staff seem friendly enough and happy to answer any questions.
Some more light and a less unpleasant smell would make a difference.
