This cafe is by the lake and in a pleasant position. We had a sausage roll and a fritatta and two milkshakes which cost over $40.00 for a quick lunch. The food was only average too. Guess we paid for the location.

A lovely restaurant-cafe by the lake. Nice and spacious inside with a cosy atmosphere. I had a delicous pumpkin salad for lunch.

Visited for lunch recently and had a really enjoyable meal of a steak sandwich. Service was good and the staff were friendly and the meal itself was delicious. I've been to Pipers a number of times and love the location and view of the lake whether sitting inside or out.

Rude service, no exception for dietary requirements and only told after ordering they were too busy and we'd have to wait over 50 minutes (for a shared pizza), drinks were going to be at least 20 mins - they arrived after 25 minutes and our pizza (which I couldn't eat) was 55 minutes. The staff were rude, wouldn't get clean glasses for water despite floating around constantly. I wanted to eat here for ages and the experience was so disappointing I would never recommend it to anyone as the staff act so superior - perhaps it was a bad day for them, but I will not waste my time and energy going back. My friends did say the pizza was delicious but not worth the wait.

quite frequently attend for coffee and scones, but recently went on a Friday night and the meal was fantastic. It was my birthday and I was pleasantly surprised with the meal. My partner's meal was also great. Would definitely go back to this quiet setting and lovely food with excellent views of the Lake.

A beautiful relaxing environment with beautiful food to match, bonus being you can dine in an air conditioned restaurant or sit outside in the equally beautiful surrounds..very friendly staff great menu which changes seasonally, lovely cake and coffee if you are just looking to have a something sweet. Highly recommend pipers for a any occasion.

We just had a friends wedding here not long ago and the place was amazing views of the lake the food was yummy the staff were quick at getting our drinks out to us and you could go outside and drink too

Such a great place to have lunch and run around outside with the kids. So much food gets served on the plate and still quality, have to stay it always has such a nice crowd of people :) fav spot to eat out! Amazing cake and coffee have banned myself from their divine hot chocolates :{

Have been here quite a few times for coffee, and there lovely big muffins or scones, just delicious. Service is good and prices reasonable. Also there $15 lunchs are great value. They have a members club and you get better value at certain times.

I recently went to Pipers for lunch with my elderly mother who is diabetic. It was very busy so we expected a lengthy wait but were pleasantly surprised when we were seated immediately and waited under 15minutes for our meals. The meals were a generous size and the staff were friendly,efficient and helpful we now make lunch here a regular outing.

We keep coming back to Pipers (especially for breakfast) - great food, great service and a great location. The staff are always helpful and friendly and always happy to assist. We have tried many cafes in Ballarat, but we have struggled to find one as consistently good as Pipers.

Went for a walk around the lake this morning and it was looking lovely. Then stopped at Pipers for breakfast. Had a veg breakfast and it was perfect... the hollandaise sauce was the best I've ever had, everything was so delicious. We has a great view out the window. And it was so warm inside. I also had a lovely pot of Chai tea, yum!! Definitely going back there again!

Have been here a few times. Have found it to be very hit and miss with both food quality and service.

Also never quite sure when they are going to be open, and if they are open whether the kitchen is still open.

I am a regular at Pipers by the Lake and think it is a fantastic place and can recommend it highly. The food is honest and excellent value with the servings being quite generous. The service is friendly without being obtrusive and the location is just incredible with the restaurant sandwiched between the magnificent Ballarat gardens and Lake Wendouree. The coffee is also very good, something that cannot be said for many of the cafe's in Ballarat!!

A bit pricey for what you get,never the less the atmosphere is relaxing and on a fine day its great to sit outside. The waiters are usually pleasant and I like that they easily accommodate for young ones.Their rest rooms are very clean too.

Booked a table for 20 people, was greeted and served by a lovely waitress (Sarah i think her name was) who came to the table to take our order , although they generally don't offer table service . Have been frequenting Pipers for over 2 years, just find that l always have to ask for the coffee to be hotter. They seem to want to serve it luke warm. Need to fix this problem

Good menu and service in nice surroundings with the option to dine indoors or out (weather dependant). The lunch specials are good value - I had the risotto and my wife the prawns on rice. Both meals were of good size for their price and came with a glass of house wine.

Service is good though you order at the counter with your table number - no table service. The coffee is good as we regularly grab one on market days. Popular location due to the park and botanical gardens and parking can become an issue on busy, sunny days. Bookings a must if you don't want to be disappointed.

I have been to Pipers a few times over the years. It is such a great location and room, Although I have never really had a great meal, they were nice, but not the nice that makes you really want to go back all the time. Would love to go here all the time if the Menu was a little better and more options

I love the atmospher of Pipers & it has lovely views of the lake. The restaurant is nice and spacious & can seat large groups comfortably. The food is delicious! It can be a bit pricey but I think it's well worth it.

First of all, they have friendly and young staff, they make me cheerful.
Even though I occupy the place for long time with a cup of coffee, they never interrupt me making me all the time comfortable.

Despite having the most picturesque setting this restaurant is severely lacking in service. I have been here on a number of occasions with friends and almost every time you order coffee and cake you will get your drinks or your cake but never both at the same time. Twice I have actually had to walk into the restaurant to enquire about what has happened to the coffees or the drinks.
