We came here on a Saturday and it was quite bust (which was to be expected). The kids love coming here and actually wanted to read everything! By the end of it they did not want to leave.

Met a friend and took our 2 year old daughters to see The Wiggles Exhibition and we all loved it! The Wiggles exhibit is great - very well set out with great hands on and play areas. We had as much fun as our daughters! She also enjoyed the transport section and the cafe and playground are great too.
Its great value to get in - $15 for adults and under 4 is free, and there is a buy one get one free voucher in the Entertainment Book so it only cost us $15 all up (not including lunch of course) for a day of fun.
Certainly worth a visit!

Experience would have been just okay if it wasn't for the fact that one of the staff wouldn't allow me to use an e-cigarette on the premises, even though it is completely harmless and behaves like water vapour. Why does every other indoor venue allow it and not the powerhouse museum? This shows a lack of understanding of the device and made my trip here uncomfortable. Also, a lot of the exhibits, save the ones on the lowest floor, are remarkably boring in my opinion.

A great place to go for a family day out! There are so many exciting exhibitions (eg the harry potter one very recently) and entry is cheap!

Thing is a great place to take the kids for an entertaining and educational day. There is so much to see and do. We go a couple of times a year.

We went there recently with my family and were surprised at the lack of exhibitions and construction everywhere.Thankfully the wiggles exhibition was on which my little ones loved but otherwise there was nothing there. Check what's on before you go

I attended the Harry Potter Exhibition here in the first few days of opening. Staff were friendly and helpful, despite the fact they were REALLY busy, and had people queuing for long amounts of time (entry to the exhibition was on a timed basis, every half hour) - they were really well organised, considering.
The exhibition was separately priced from the museum ticket, but not as expensive as I'd expected - $32, and included entry to the museum itself as well, so good value really. Tickets to the museum alone are $10 adult, $5 children, and under 4 years are free.
I didn't visit the rest of the museum on this occasion, but the parts I saw of it looked really impressive and I can see it'd be a great place to visit with children.
I really appreciated the cloakroom facilities as I was carrying heavy bags.

Great review! Will be heading to Sydney in a few weeks and have plans to go see the exhibition. Just wondering, how long do you think it'll take to see the whole exhibit? Thanks!

I took about hour and a half to go round, I reckon that's probably plenty. They don't limit the time you spend in there though, so can stay as long as you want.
Need to arrive half an hour BEFORE your booked time.
Queues were long when I got there, but it was the second day only!

Oh thanks for the heads up! Hopefully it's died down a bit when I go. Cheers!

I really love the range of exhibitions at the Powerhouse Museum, as they always put on something to entertain both kids and adults. It's a very interactive place and I recommend it for a day out with the kids.

A great day out. I really enjoyed the recent 80s exhibit as it took me back to my childhood. I also enjoyed seeing different interesting bits and pieces from history. An enjoyable time.
