You're never too old for a ride on puffing billy!

We had a romantic dinner on board while enjoying a ride up through the beautiful hills. The food and service was top rated.

I have been a passenger on puffin billy many times and my advice is to pick a day that's not too hot as it can get a bit sticky when you're sitting on a carriage with heaps of other tourists. School holidays is also a time to try and avoid.

Thank you, what a lovely new perspective. I've never been without heaps of kids crowding to get a good seat and not ended up with a faceful of soot.

Amazing day out for the children and adults of course!! You travel through the beautiful forest like area. Its fairly expensive to go but I would keep taking my children back to experience it all over again! It is such a relaxing train ride. They also have Thomas the tank engine as well. It really is truly an amazing experience!

This is a really nice day out. It is quite expensive for a family, but they are self-funed and hire quite a few staff to keep it going. There isn't a great deal to see but it certainly is a nice journey. There are a few cafe stops on the way. One of the stops has a playground and cafe.

When school holidays come around who are you going visit to keep the kids amused and yet doing something that keeps them active?

Give yourself and the kids a step back in time to an age when life was simple and the simple things are appreciated! Take a ride on a train line that has been around for 100 years traveling through natural Australian bushland and scenery. Bring a picnic lunch with you and when you reach the end of the line have a break and enjoy the natural surroundings of the park nearby. Then have a wander around and watch the birds and other wild life before the train heads back to Belgrave.

Alternatively you can elect to have a meal provided for you - check the website for different travel options: http://www.puffingbilly.com.au/wine-dine/ and http://www.puffingbilly.com.au/services-fares/

One of the best times to go is when there is the race between the train and the runners who compete to see if they can beat the train going from Belgrave to Gembrook! You can either ride the train or be one of the runners... (I think I'm ready to stop running and grab a taxi!!!(

The fares may seem a bit high but you can relax knowing that your contribution ensures that this blast from the past continues to exist and provide fun and enjoyment for current and future generations.

Approximate cost: $40

Going for a ride on Puffing Billy is a great day out for young and old. I just love to take my family for a trip on Puffing Billy. It is such a lovely old train and when you get to Lake Side you can get off and have a Picnic Lunch. Then when you have finished for the day get back on Puffing Billy and head home.
