After a hard day showing friends from the mainland the highlights of Hobart my 24 year old son and i popped into Raincheck lounge for an evening meal. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive and when my son asked for advice she suggested the Spanish meatballs which were on special at about $16. She also asked him if he was very hungry and he was quick to answer in the affirmative. I ordered the ribs which were on special with crispy roast potatoes. My ribs arrived first after a considerable wait and as it was well presented it looked ok albeit a trfle on the small size considering the rather hefty $16.95. Alas when i started eating i soon realised that the veggies were few and the tats not crispy at all. The ribs were so arranged that they looked plentiful but when separated they were almost devoid of meat and lonely by number. I remained silent until my sons 4 tiny meatballs weregiven to him and he burst out laughing. They were on a saucer and really quite pathetic. We called our waitress over and she then tried to patronise us with a reference to our meals being Tapas. I HAVE LIVED in europe for 12 years and visited SPAIN a few times as have our whole family and we are well aware as to what TAPAS should be. Thankfully the head waiter intervened and saved the situation by voiding our bill. We left feeling bitterly disappointed as my wife and i have had really good lunches at this lounge. By the way an authentic Tapas is a FREE snack supplied with a beer when bought at most bars all over Spain. To charge $16 DOLLARS for a snack is taking the mickey.

Approximate cost: $15/$20 odd

Have been here a couple of times and would have to say I preferred the breakfast menu over the lunch menu. Brekky consists of a number of old favourites, including eggs benedict which I tried and thoroughly enjoyed.

The lunch experience I had was the chips with the wasabi mayonaise - sensational.

Price wise they are pretty much what you'd expect for the North Hobart strip. Definately on my list of venues to return to.

Sounds like breakfast is their speciality, from the rest of the reviews here!

This is a busy, popular little cafe, bigger inside than it looks, with a great menu at very affordable prices. The haloumi with herbs and lemon juice for $8 was a great lunch choice, but it would have been nice to have the option of a small salad or even a bit of decent garnish to go with it. It would be really good as part of a platter of tasters as well. The beef burgers looked mouth watering, can't wait to try that next time! Staff were friendly and efficient, and service was fast.

Approximate cost: $8.00
