It was a relief to find Rhubarb and me.

I first started going to Rhubarb & Me back in 2019 after I needed a disastrous haircut (from another salon) fixed up quickly, and I'd been recommended this place by a friend.
Elise didn't disappoint - she fixed up the train wreck in no time and made it look absolutely fantastic. I've been going there ever since - her eye for detail is second to none (and I'm pretty finicky at the best of times) and I appreciate Elise's honesty and no nonsense approach about what styles would work with my hair type, face shape etc. She's also super welcoming and unpretentious - a breath of fresh air! As far as I'm concerned, R&M have me as a customer for life.

My haircut was ok, I had asked for just a trim and was in the chair for literally 2 minutes. There were sections of hair which were missed (?!) & still had split ends which I've had to fix myself. Overpriced and sloppy, not a friendly establishment and I would not go back.

Pretentious, overpriced and a pretty sub-standard hair cut. I was told I could go back whenever and get a free fringe trim. When I rang to ask if I could pop in to get this done I was told no and that this service was only for regulars. As I had only been to the salon once, I didnt qualify. Makes you wonder how they get any regulars when they treat their customers so poorly. Definitely wont be going back. Much better places to choose from. One to avoid!

Elysse (sorry if the spelling is incorrect) is great with curly hair - a rare thing for so many hairdressers. I've had my hair butchered by some hairdressers so finding her after a recommendation from a curly haired friend was fantastic. She listens to what you want and can make good suggestions if that's what you'd like. I'd recommend her.

I wish I had listened to much of the advice on this page. shocking haircut, I cannot conceive how a 'qualified' hair dresser could choose to give me a glorified mullet. needless to say it looks horrific. would never return

I've just had the worst haircut of my life at Rhubarb & Me. I usually drive up to Sydney to get my hair cut but haven't had the chance recently, so thought I would give it a go in the Can. I had heard decent things about Rhubarb & Me. However, I found the stylist to be lacking in technique and basic listening abilities. I had been happy with the cut I had, so I asked for something similar, explaining what I wanted, and I got exactly what I had spent years growing out. The stylist seemed to be more interested in what the other stylist was doing, or was too concerned about the weekend ahead to pay attention to what I asked for. I should have taken the hint when she blow-dried my hair curly (I've never worn my hair curly in my life and certainly didn't ask for curls) and alarm bells sounded when they got out the thinning scissors - talented hairdressers are able to use regular scissors to remove bulk with a bit more finesse (not that they even removed any of the bulk on the sides, where it needed it). Granted, it was the first time that she had cut my hair, and they know my hair or style. But if they had stuck to what I'd asked for, I wouldn't have gone home in tears. I didn't say at the time how disappointed I was because I didn't want to make a scene and just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. I can think of better ways to spend $75.

I can't believe that there would possibly be any bad reviews for this hairdresser!!! They are amazing! We have been going there for the last few years, seen the change of owners and re-stylings of the shop and have always been impressed! My sister had all of her bridal party's hair done there and they were so accomodating and helpful and the hair looked great! I have to admit that the first time I went there, I was a little taken aback by the skulls, tattooes and black stuff... but the first time Elise did my hair it was the prettiest style it has ever been and she was super friendly. I also went to another salon whilst interstate and had my hair coloured, when I came back to Elise next time, she told me that the colour that they used didn't suit my skin tone as well as some others and took the time to show me what she meant! I always have a pleasant experience, a lovely cuppacino and a chat and always walk out of there with a fabulous colour and style which gets positive comments from friends and family.... HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hairdresser!! :-)
