It's very easy to lose a whole afternoon or evening at Rocksalt on Newcastle Marina, an award-winning restaurant and function venue. Here – under umbrellas on the waterfront, in the relaxed modern interior, or even aboard cruises that leave from the marina – diners can indulge in the freshest quality seafood and an array of other dishes. The chefs at Rocksalt on Newcastle Marina are forever innovating the menu, so there's always a different surprise in store for your taste buds. Lunch might be angel hair pasta tossed with fresh cuttlefish, citrus zest, parsley and olive oil, while dinner could involve tian of lobster teamed with avocado, coriander and crustacean oil, best enjoyed with a chilled glass of Hunter Valley wine.

I rarely pass up an opportunity for a business lunch and normally I pick the venue, though this time I didn't have that luxury, leaving me slightly nervous about what to expect. Since I wasn't paying and we were heading to Newcastle marina gave me some comfort. We found a little gem called Rocksalt and managed to get the prime position right up front with an unobstructed view of the entire Newcastle marina. I hadn't been to Rocksalt before, though heard they speacialized in seafood and had won an award not long ago. Normally a seafood restaurant doesn't give you many options if you are not in the mood for seafood, though surprisingly I had plenty alternatives.
I must say the chicken and mushroom hot pot was a great choice and I really appreciate the attention we received from Charlotte. Thank you very much for a great lunch and will look for an excuse to see you soon.

went here for my anniversary dinner i loved the crabwith garlic sauce a it was mouth watering food, all the seafood was Delicious and the ambiance was lovely.
