We recently did a 3 day Sydney cruise with Royal Caribbean International. We toke the kids on this holiday as well.
We didn't feel there was much of activities for the kids, there are basic pools and spas but no water fun activities for the kids to have fun in.
The surfing ride is for kids whom are at a certain height which means my youngest who only just scraped just under missed out on this ride.
There is putt putt/basketball court/a games arcade/ table tennis/rock climbing -- though it was very windy on the outdoor deck.
The Windjammer buffet had a few meals to choose from though very difficult to find seats to sit down to eat.
The Restaurant had amazing views of the water, really comfortable though the menu was pretty limited.
Service I felt could of been better, very demotivated and not enough willingness to help staff members especially in the Restaurant, we had to wait nearly 20 minutes for our water then another 10 minutes for soft drinks.
Our room was tiny, but always kept clean.
There is lots of entertainment on board, great comedy shows/dancing shows/ice skating ring/shows.
Overall a nice break with the family

3 days sounds like the right amount of time for a quick cruise, a long voyage would be a trial if things go awry. What sort of cost was involved?
HI there, 3 days was plenty to explore on this ship, the cost involved was not much, just paid for the family of 4 drinks and meals included. we didn't take up any extra drink packages or photos we had a $300 credit we received when we booked, which we were able to buy goodies from the souvenir shop, which helped us. Then we just bought the usual ice cream for the kids and some small food items for afternoon tea, and the arcade games were an extra charge as well. We didn't even go for massages this time round either. which saved us a bit of money all in all not a bad financial getaway. I would recommend it but definitely book in a better season. March was not a great time to cruise.
I recommend Carnival cruise heaps if your thinking of cruising. all the best
