My partner and I went once a week or fortnight on Fridays when we discovered Saigon in 2013. I would leave work in Sydney early on a Friday to get there at 5.30pm for an early dinner. The food was good value and service was friendly and efficient. We turned up as usual on a Friday in 2014 that happened to be Valentine's Day. There were two young men setting up there, one of whom seemed to be in charge (I'll call him Top Dog) and one of whom was just doing as he was told. Top Dog said we couldn't get in without a booking, though we told them we had been regular diners who had never before made a booking. There was not another customer there. We said we would be out of there very fast. The neon sign 'Open' was illuminated and the menus on display on the door clearly had printed on them that they opened at 5.30pm. It was 5.30pm and we were the only customers there. Despite this, we were told they would not open until 6pm. We explained that due to a medical condition my partner had to eat early. We were told to come back at 6pm and they would see if they could find a booking. So we walked aimlessly around Ettalong for half an hour and went back to the restaurant. There were still no customers dining there. Top Dog said he could fit us in at 8.30pm - when we had clearly explained we needed to eat early. Top Dog was rude and discourteous (the other fellow didn't really comment). They didn't care that the advertised opening time was 5.30pm nor that their neon 'Open' sign was on. We have never eaten there since - almost a year now. I only gave any stars at all above because before this it had been quite an OK/good experience. Based on our last experience there, I'd give no stars at all. We looked at it a couple of weeks ago but it didn't look inspiring and the windows were dirty, so we didn't eat there. We may give it another go some time, after talking to the manager about our last incredibly rude and hostile experience there.

My name is Karen. You Miss should have given understanding to the fact it was Valentine's day. They tried to cater for you at 830. Go and have a snack and return or .....carry on. You chose to carry on

I've dined here about 6 times since this little restaurant opened at the start of 2013. The staff are very warm, friendly & have great customer service. They offered our fidgety children crayons, paper & seasonal fruit to distract them until our entrees arrived - you don't often get those gestures these days. The traditional food tastes fresh, delicious and the size of the meals are very decent for the cost. The staff are very diligent and offer 'top ups' of drinks and are genuinely interested on the feedback of your meal. Definitely recommend

Approximate cost: $16.00
