1 review about Shepherd's View

We stayed at Shepherd's View for the long weekend and whilst the views were great, the house was a real disappointment.
It started our badly as there had been some misunderstanding on behalf of the agent as they thought that we only required one bedroom, so we were in a bit of a quandary when 7 of us arrived late at night to find one bedroom open and the rest all locked. After an hour, the agent came and unlock them.
The house is supposedly 4 stars, but if it ever was checked for the rating, it must have been a long time ago. There is only one bathroom & toilet inside, which I think is not enough for a house that is marketed as comfortably sleeping 10 guests. Yes, there is another bathroom outside, but you have to go through the pool area to get to it.
I found the layout quite strange - there are two huge living areas, plus a dining area. This plus the kitchen would occupy 75% of the floor space. The remainder is the 4 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, which are all quite small.
In two bedrooms are bunks and the mattresses in these are not very good - both my wife and I were continually rolling inwards towards the center of the bed all night long. One room has a double bed and the other a double water bed.
The house is encircled by a large deck. This deck looks in bad condition, with many of the boards wobbly and need of replacement or repair. The stairs leading up from the car parking are quite steep and in the wet (as it was for us) are really dangerous when you are trying to carry your gear down.
The furniture is old and tired - a little touch like having a nicer looking TV would make the place look better. We didn't come up to watch TV & didn't turn it on once, but a cheap chunky box next to the fire place is pretty poor. Get rid of it entirely or buy a basic LCD screen.
There is a solar heated pool that was promoted as a feature of the house, yet when we arrived we were told that the filter had a leak and the pool hasn't been working for a while.
The fire is great and there was plenty of wood. Our dogs enjoyed the place immensely too. But all up we were disappointed - 4 star it's not and at the price tag it's way too expensive. We won't be back.

Approximate cost: $1365 for 3 nights
