New and very edgy modern asian restaurant. Shu feels slightly space age with all the transparent perspex chairs, industrial feel tables, warehouse lamps with chains hanging from the ceiling and neon lighting.
They serve modern sichuan cuisine with a european influence. This means a more refined and complex balance of heat and flavour. The spice is still there, but refined and with a sense of delicacy. Presentation is beautiful, aka french dining.

Daikon rolles of fresh raw veggies, chilli infused soy
Grilled king oyster mushroom on spicy pumpkin puree and chive
Chilled silken tofu cup with seaweed, mungbeans, housemade chilli jam
Pan grilled eggplant stuffed with preserved mustard green and roasted almonds
Beef brisket slow cooked in five spice broth
It was a really interesting, fun and pleasant experience. I would recommend it for something different.
