Silo is a Canberra institution. Their bakery treats are to die for and very popular for office parties. They aren't the cheapest, but definitely good value for money. Highly recommended for something special!
i reckon this is the best bakery/cafe in canberra...although my experience of canberra cafes is limited- if it was in sydney though, i'd feel the same way. The coffee is good and the sourdough is real sourdough- dense, chewy and oh-so-tasty. The food is fresh and really delicious with some interesting options that you dont see everywhere- truffled scrambled eggs for one. I had the vegan breakfast and as someone who eats EVERYTHING, i was not disappointed (but i did try the eggs- good, really good) i'd definitely visit again, and we even bought bread home.
Really delicious food, it is pretty popular and isn't a big place so it is worth booking a table (especially on weekends).
This bakery definitely has appetizing food that is always freshly baked, but it is so hard to get a seat! Always full of people so best to book ahead of time to ensure you'll find a spot & get served.
The food is fantastic! However, if wanting to eat in, always, always book ahead! This is a canberra classic, and as such is very busy.
best food ever (if they haven't run out by the time you get served). Despite long queues, I will defs go again. if you've never tried it you are missing out
I have never ever come across such a poor customer service, no care attitude.
There is so much of rudeness that you wouldn't wanna go there again. There is no pricing in front of the products so you can can see how much you are spending. When they tell you the total, you get the shock.
Amazing food, however it is very busy and you should book if you want a seat.
Not open on Sundays.
If you have friends visiting from interstate make sure you take them for a Silo experience.
I usually come here to get a loaf of their strata bread. This is possibly the best bread in canberra, and as such there is often a bunfight (excuse the pun) to get them. Don't expect Silo to have any left if you come in any later then 1pm.
They also serve amazing coffee, and their tarts are to die for. At 5 a pop they aren't cheap, but in terms of quality they are amazing.
Silo is most known for their cheese room, and because of this they often are featured in the Good Food Guide, Good Eating etc..this reputation is well deseved.
Approximate cost: $18
This small cafe has fantastic bread and a great cheese room. They have a great variety at reasonable prices and do a really nice wholesum breakfast. The only problem was that the place was so busy and a little noisey. If you want to eat in, get there early (when they first open).
Approximate cost: $0-100
