If there is a zero rating, I would give one without hesitation.

Everytime I called the customer service hotline, its just a waste of my time. With every quetion I asked, I was put on hold for them to do double checking with their supervisor. They dont know their product, service and there isnt a standrad service protocal in handling customer enquiry or complain.

I rang up the customer service team to switch my gas and electricity to them. RACV had recommended them saying that they would give me a %30 discount up front. The inflexibly, stubbornly, arrogant guy I talked too claimed that there was a heap of conditions, such as forcing you to pay by direct debit, and having paperless bills etc. etc. In short, this offer was not given out, and so I ended up hanging up on the nasty guy, who other wise would not have let me go with his pressure tactics and his forcefulness of manor.

I sent this company an email to find out about their rates as I was wanting to compare with my current supplier. They immediately began to bombard me with telephone calls. I told them that I wasn't interested in changing and thought that that would be the end of the story.

A few weeks later I got a phone call from my supplier letting me know that the changeover to my new supplier (???!!!) was scheduled to go ahead.

I rang Simply Energy and told them that I had not asked to change my supplier. They told me that I had verbally agreed to go with them (I had not) and that there was nothing I could do as the cooling off period had ended. If I wanted to change back I would incur a disconnection fee!!! To say I was livid is an understatement. I asked to speak to a manager and was told there was no point as he would merely tell me the same thing. I was then put on hold for so long that I had to hang up. I rang back later in the day and was told the same thing by a different person. I questioned the cooling off period - how could there be a cooling off period if I had not received notification of joining? I asked to listen to the recording of my supposed telephone conversation in which I joined up, but none could be provided. I then threatened to lodge a complaint with the EWOV (Energy and Water Ombudsman) and miraculously the woman on the telephone, after spending several minutes talking to her manager, agreed that I could cancel (a service I had never signed up for) without incurring a fee!!!!!

I find it amazing that suppliers can simply (no pun intended!)hijack your electricity supply and tie you into a contract without your knowledge. It makes me wonder how companies such as this can operate with such a lack of integrity, even going so far as to call me a liar and tell me that I had signed up with them when I knew very well I had not.
