Great service....I just bought Yamaha keyboard online on Friday afternoon and it's been delivered on Saturday afternoon just within 24 hours after putting order through their website, first time one of the fastest delivery I ever had. Also they did the price match and it was very reasonable price compared to any other music stores around Australia. Thank you Sky Music , happy to shop again and highly recommended to anyone who is looking for to buy any music instruments specially someone living in Melbourne! Keep it up Sky Music #Thankyou

I recommend you stay away from these guys, the worst customer service experience I have ever had.

My father, a 76 year old man, wanted a replacement microphone for his tablas (two Indian hand drums) as he misplaced the one he had. He has been using a small guitar amplifier to amplify his tablas so he can play with his local singing group. Anything bigger than this would be too big for him to carry easily. Anyhow, I told him to get another basic mic for around $10-$20 from Jaycar Electronics but for some reason he ended up going to Sky Music and they sold him a condenser microphone for $135. This would not work with the small guitar amp because it needs phantom power.

I went back with him the next day to explain the situation, and request a refund or exchange for something that doesn't need phantom power so he could use it directly to his amp). Under consumer law, if an item does not do what the customer was led to believe it would do, you can do this. Both staff members were extremely unhelpful. First of all, they said you need to come back another day as the staff member that sold the microphone isn't here today (?!) They refused to call the staff member to clarify the details "as it was his day off". Then they blamed my father for buying the item in the first place, which is like blaming him for being silly enough to believe their salesman's advice. Then they said you can't prove our salesman led your father to believe this mic would do the job so we don't have any obligation to help you !?! Then one staff member started swearing at me and being abusive and saying your father should have hit you more when you were growing up!?! At the same time, the other fellow said he had been in business for over 30 years and no-one does refunds or exchanges - which is nonsense, all reputable stores do, just not Sky Music. But this showed that they were just trying to waste our time when they said come back when the original staff member was here, as they clearly weren't going to refund or exchange then either. What a lack of respect for their customers.

I was absolutely astounded by how this was going but tried to keep calm and find some kind of win-win resolution. After throwing some more bad vibes, the first staff member said your only solution is to buy a phantom power supply from us for $25. I pointed out that this would create a lot more hassles than necessary, as my father would have to run a lead into and out of the phantom power supply, as well as run an ac adaptor to the supply every time he used it. (ie carry and setup three or four extra things every time he played with his group, as opposed to just running a basic microphone to his amp). The staff member obviously didn't care about this, he was only interested in selling more unnecessary stuff. We ended up getting the supply just to get out of there, but I would warn everyone to avoid this place like the plague. I don't understand how they survive, there are so many really good music stores in this area. There's no reason to put up with this kind of horrific customer service from the crew at Sky Music.

All they needed to do was offer some basic courtesy - acknowledge that a mix-up had been made and swap the mic for something user friendly - Problem solved, they would have still made money and they would have happy repeat customers. Instead, they tried to give us the runaround by telling us to come back another day, then they tried to deny responsibility by calling my father a liar, then they were abusive and rude, and then they offered a completely unhelpful and awkward solution just to make more money. My father, due to trusting Sky Music, has had to pay around $160 for a setup that is messy and complicated when a $20 mic would have been fine - or they could have swapped him for a more expensive mic that didn't need phantom power, but instead they sold him unnecessary hassles. And now Sky Music have wasted more of my time because I've had to write this negative review. But if it saves other people such an unpleasant experience it's well worth it.

Stay away from Sky Music, they are a disgrace. Am really surprised, didn't think stores like this still existed. No respect for the elderly and no interest in serving their customers, all they want is the sale at any cost and after that you can go to hell for all they care.

Approximate cost: $160
