Great response time as I was concerned about the potential damage falling palms could do, awesome job including clean up after even though access & removal had to be through my home. Also gave me some great ideas for safe replanting. Thanks Alec & Co

He was referred by a real estate agent for some tidying up. He rang from my home, the the agent at Stockdale and Leggo, Glen Waverley and was told to clear the lot including a 40 year old stunning camellia and a 30 year old flowering cherry and native flowering tall shrubs with delicate foliage and more except for 2 trees above 30 metres. I was appalled, contacted SA later, and asked for some minor thinning. THere is no ground cover except lush violets carpeting exposed areas.
Told SA what I wanted, told him particular things to keep, but he cut these and each time I thought all was ok and went inside away from the noise, ( chainsaw and big chipping machine)he cut out more. He kept cutting out as much as possible. He did it quickly and unpredictably as I thought an area was safe and he nicked back and got it. He cut a 30 year old flowering cherry of beautiful shape. He cut the beautiful sides of the camellia so its shape is spoiled. He w as not meant to touch it. As it is/was native garden there is no lawn and the land is not flat and just dirt. N Then he told me to get four huge truckloads of mulch and cover the bare soil 30cm deep. My properly is down 10% in value I believe. He said Chinese hated trees but he also cut beautiful small things and the bright green treasures I wanted kept and important pretty shrubs including a specimen 10 year old Moonlight grevillea which fed the honey eaters. He said later it was misunderstanding. That he thought I had given him a free hand despite me saying no way was it to be cleared and I wanted specifics done.
He ground down stumps very well. He can trim big trees up high. But the man wouldn't listen. I have not slept for 3 nights.

Approximate cost: $2 to 300

Total cost was over $2000. I am still shocked that ti happened and he over rode what I wanted.
Spoke to Consumer affairs and the guy was horrified. But had nothing in writing to defend my position. It was an oral request from me. So its is hard to take legal action even though Consumer Affairs considered it appropriate and gave me phone number to call. Be warned always get written contract.
