I was here at SPP November last year (2022) for methamphetamine addiction and my program funding through the Department Of Veterans Affairs (DVA White Card). I will say that the staff here ESPECIALLY the nursing staff were wonderful and incredibly kind and caring, but I simply cannot recommend this place due to its typical group therapy which does not work (would you put your trust in and reveal deeply held secrets to total strangers?). It's very much trauma centred at South Pacific Private and too obsessed with this idea of "smoking, caffeine, sugar" etc being ways we " regulate our emotions" ( I just wanted a cigarette for Cats sake!). You simply CANNOT go this deep into therapy in any group setting and in 21 days even if that includes their Beechwood program next door. 1 week after leaving SPP I went to St John Of God Richmond and completed their 21 day program. Now after 5 months of total abstinence I've relapsed and likely going to "Sydney Detox and Rehab" in Balgowlah, which also accepts DVA funding. I'm hoping I've maybe found a 'hidden gem' I won't find anywhere else.
NOTE: be aware of the pricing at South Pacific Private - it's (according to a SPP form that has all my details & DVA number and lists the daily prices as: single rooms: $970 per day; shared rooms': $780 per day. This form shows the total cost of my stay (21 day initial planned stay) at $970 per day totalling $20500. HOWEVER, I initially was accommodated in a SHARED ROOM and only obtained a single room after perhaps 6 days because I snore quite badly. I had to DEMAND it. However this form shows that South Pacific Private CHARGED the DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS who funded my stay for the full $970 per day! What about the first 6 days where I was sharing with 3 others? This is called FINANCIAL FRAUD and worse still it's commited against a government department (Dept Of Veterans Affairs) which makes it a federal offence. And if I hadn't of been a snorer, I would've remained in a shared room for the duration of my stay (I stayed 14 days). Seriously? Defrauding patients/clients and the actual proof is in BOLD TYPE on the very payment forms that each patient gets a copy of....
