Specsavers Bentleigh over service and while it is bulk billed the fee for unnecessary tests is paid for by the Australian taxpayer. Also upselling of néw glasses that are not needed is a feature of their customer service. Pushy customer service by front counter staff and head optician (who is the franchise owner I believe).

worst customer experience. BEWARE OF THIS STORE and Specsavers. If you are claiming optical benefit through your health fund, make sure they claim against the right person. I am still struggling and spending couple of weeks behind this to get it resolved also their unparliamentary references in email. They do wrong claims and you have to accept all their attitude over phone and emails :(. REALLY WORSE!!!. Soon I will be sharing more details and the total cost and cost associated with this incident in appropriate forums.

Great! Got my eyes tested on a Sunday and reading specs were ready for pick up 3days later! All covered by my health fund - No Gap. Professional eye examination with modern equipment. Staff friendly. I will go back next year for more reading glasses covered by my health insurance.

Eye testing was fine, and the deals are great - e.g. 2 pairs of glasses for price of 1. That got me in there, as well as it being the closest optometrist to me.
Unfortunately I ordered some contact lenses from them - the Specsaver brand. When I later wanted to buy contacts online I found out that their prescriptions use some kind of system of their own so I couldn't use it for any of the other brands like Johnson&Johnson.
I met two optometrists there and they gave me conflicting information about products.
I bought some cheap glasses from them too. When I came to colelct I needed to have them adjusted as they sat crooked on my face. One of the girls who worked there assisted me - she used the heating machine to mould the glasses. She was about 14 years old and really did not know what she was doing. It took about 20 minutes for teh glasses to sit straight, but in the end they were less comfortable than when I first tried them on.
Overall - not a professional service.

Approximate cost: $100

Glasses are great value and stylish, however had problem after problem with my contact and glasses orders. Wrong contacts ordered, wrong script of glasses, long delays in scripts coming in, usually having to chase them up the list goes on. Why do I go back?? Not 100% sure. Optometrist is quite good and things are usually resolved to my satisfaction. It is also convenient to get to and they have my file on record.

Specsavers Optometrists are fantastic for glasses on a budget. I got a pair of glasses from here for under $200, and while they weren't branded they certainly do their job, they're sturdy and they look good. They're not as good-looking as branded pairs, of course, but they were a whole lot cheaper! There aren't many glasses that you can choose that are under a specific price range, like $50 or $100. The quality is not as good either, but it's still great quality for such a low price. The optometrists were very helpful, and they went to extra lengths to help me to find what I wanted, the service here is top-notch.
