My Husband and I went to Spotlight looking to furnish the bottom half of our house, mainly the formal dining, foraml living, and family room. I thought yeah we will find something decent as you know its spot light but much to my surprise i was very disappointed and lead down. I quality of the fabrics were buying something from a 2 dollar shop. So we left without even asking for help. Anyone out there knows of any good curtain makers please let me know.

As usual I found myself helping their customers again ... another customer asked for petersham ribbon, and the sales assistant didn't know what that was. Alas, that's not unusual for Spotlight. I took the lady over to the section, and she asked me the difference between petersham and grosgrain, which I explained. She was so grateful.
When I go in there after certain items, they usually don't have what I want....like a tambour hook, for instance. It's a shop for the hobbyist, rather than the serious crafter, sewer etc. They have all the stuff featured in Better Homes and Gardens (if that's as far as you want to go), and a reasonable range of basic fabrics, especially if you're a quilter...but nothing for a multi-faceted crafter.
No melt and pour soap, no knit-pro or Addi knitting needles, no handspinning slivers, no sock looms, no real candle making supplies. I usually end up ordering online from overseas because all the basics that you used to get freely in this country are now no longer stocked by these concerns, and what little you can get is seriously overpriced.
In so far as their stock goes, such as it is, it's usually fairly decent, but you can't get any good quality towelling for bathrobes, it's all thin and yuck. No decent teddy/animal fur...it's mostly poor quality synthetics. I've gotten things at good prices at times, but not what I'm really after. Usually more frustrated than not, although the service is pretty good provided that you don't expect them to have much knowledge or experience in crafting.
I did get some lovely dress fabric and a couple of patterns today, but that was easy, as I knew exactly what I wanted. I did find that lots of prices were missing from shelves and rolls of fabric, but that is something that I've come to expect from Spotlight.

awesome prices, good customer service, sometime you have to walk a bit to find someone for help though but I feel good browsing alone sometimes. lots of options. I will defiantly visit them again and again.

Quality and value of spotlight is great, however service was very poor. While I was waiting to be served one sales assitant was serving while the other was cleaning up around the till.
