Great food and a wonderful price, overall dining experience is indulgent despite the food being quite simple. They have a weird thing with the wait staff where certain waiters are for drinks and certain for food and god help you if you try to call the wrong one over (to the point where a kindly drinks waitress took pity on us and took our food order once, and after she had taken our order to the kitchen the head waitress came and told us that she was not QUALIFIED to take food orders, CANCELLED our food order, and made us wait 5 minutes before returning to re take the food order!!!) However the food is just so good, we're willing to put up with that!

Approximate cost: $30

Very nice meal, although the steak was a bit fatty and we had to wait a little to long for service. Other wise a great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Well worth the walk from our Motel.
Made to feel most welcome and that we were special.
Quality of food excellent as was the Venue - Most appealing !!
We asked and were given a comprehensive history of the beautiful building. Would definitely go back when next in Ballarat.

Approximate cost: $30.00

The ideal place for a Real meat meal. The steaks start at $23.00 for a 200gm rump, and move up in price from there. They come out with either a large baked pototoe or chips, and if you require gravey, at a extra $4.50 a jug (which can be shared as its quite large). And then a side salad at $6.00. All very delicious and hot. Finish off with desserts at $11.00. If you are going with a group, it would be advisable to make a booking as it gets very busy, and noisy with wooden floors. Overall very well presented.Right in middle of town with good parking.

Both my partner and I enjoyed our eye fillet immensely, which was accompanied by a roasted potato and chips and home made sauces for dipping...mustard and pepper sauce. Our entrees were yummy too...garlic prawn skewer and beef sausage. Greek salad was generous, crisp and fresh, but could of done with more dressing. Somehow we managed to down a sticky date pudding between us and it was delicious. Staff were very welcoming friendly and happy, a well run business. A great experience lucky enough to have had, considering we did not make a booking and way to end our relaxing weekend at Ballarat. It was a little expensive but well worth it.

Approximate cost: $30-$40

The waitress messed up our entree order by giving us the wrong dish and at the end of the evening, when paying the bill, they had the audacity to charge us for HER mistake. The Ballarat Steakhouse lost 10 customers that night who will never again walk through the door.

I ate its steak with fries in my friend invitation. Amazing, very delicious and elaborately cooked. I loved it. If you look forward to find great food, you can find it there.

Oh yeah! Best steaks in Ballarat! Meals are a little on the small size, but then I am a big boy with a big appetite. Most people will find the servings ample. Prices are reasonable. Food is fresh and tasty. While waiting for your meal, browse around the dining area and read the history of some of Ballarat's well known landmarks. Their menu will not have you scratching your head. A good selection of dishes without being too overwhelming. Stay for desert, or take the 50m stroll along the street to The Pancake Kitchen, two doors east. Sauces/gravies for your steak are very tasty. They even have a Dutch blue vein cheese sauce that is to die for! Well worth the visit.

Approximate cost: $16-$40
